Jehari
Today is our commencement ceremony. Over the past four months, I learned a lot. If it wasn't for Lyfe taking his time out to actually get to know me, I don't think I would've made it.
I stood in the full length mirror and fixed my now straight hair. I examined my outfit that consisted of a gray tie front crop tee, faded destroyed jeans, white 2013 Retro Grape 5s, purple and blue Charlotte Hornets snapback, white Fossil watch, silver chain, and silver hoop earrings.
"Girl you lookin cute for Romeo huh?"
I turned to see Tanya smiling at me as she finished packing. My suitcase was already packed.
"No."
"I'm ready to leave. I miss California."
"I bet you do."
"I'm going to miss you home skillet."
Tanya started to tear up and I hugged her.
"Girl, we got each other's numbers. I'll call you."
"You are so cool Jehari. Thanks for being my ear to speak to."
"Always Tanya."
We hugged again as Lyfe knocked on the door, peeping his head in.
"Ladies, we're ready."
We got up and grabbed our bags. Taking them to the recreation room, we greeted other participants.
"Alright, backyard kids."
Everyone walked to the backyard where we were seated behind our families. The ceremony started with Lyfe saying a few words.
"I'm am pleased to say that each participant completed our program. Today, everyone of them have a chance to begin again. Now, she doesn't know this but Jehari Wilson is the one who progressed the most. And because of that, I would like for her to read a letter that she wrote. Jehari?"
I stood up and walked down the aisle, going to the podium. Taking a deep breath, I pulled out the letter.
Dear Romeo,
I would like to thank you for being here for me. Even though I've pushed you away, you still stood by me, not giving up on me or us.You are my light in darkness, my sunshine in rain, and much more. If I could turn back the hands of time, I would. As I went through this program, I realized that tomorrow is never promised.
I apologize for hurting you and I pray that God gives you the strength to forgive me. I love you so much.
With love, respect, and appreciation
Jehari Noelle WilsonI looked up from the paper and wiped my face. Romeo got up and hugged me tight.
"I love you too Jeh."
------------------------------------------Romeo
We walked into our home and the lights switched on.
"Welcome home!"
Friends and family greeted Jehari with hugs and gifts.
"My nigga home! She home! Lawd she home!" Romello licked her face.
"I missed you too Romello." She laughed.
"I know. How can you not miss all this sexiness?"
"Get off my baby mama nigga." Kelly pushed him out of the way.
"Welcome home baby."
"Thanks sweetness."
Jehari looked around and the person she was looking for was nowhere to be found.
"He ditched me huh?"
"Yeah. But he was an ass anyways."
JoJo ditched Jehari, even going on Twitter trying to blast her.
"Aye, just focus on you Noelle. You home and you about to be grinding again. I love you Princess."
"Love you too."
We kissed and went back to the party. Ain't nobody gonna ruin her happiness. Nobody.
_____________________________________We now lay in bed talking. I played in her hair as music played softly in the background.
"Romeo?"
"Hmm?"
"Am I you-"
"Yeah, you my girl now."
I smiled down at her and she gave one back. This was our story and it was time for it to begin again.
Jehari's outfit in MM if you can see it. Epilogue coming in a few.
