Today isn't just another day in my life. I looked at my side and helped you strengthen the unwanted folds in your gown. You plasted that most beautiful smile on your face as I gave you a thumbs up. Don't you think time is a little unfair? You can't turn it back and you can't see what's gonna happen next, so you have to cherish every single second of your life. Looking at myself today makes me wonder why time even existed. But good thing there's memories. Good memories. You can recall what happened on that moment of your life and still get that feeling during that time. Do you still remember those old times Tiffany?
I wish you still do.
"Mom! Mom! We're back!" a six year-old girl with her bubbly friend came back inside the house, holding hands.
"Oh Taeyeon, did you enjoyed playing with Tiffany?" the middle aged woman ruffled the girls' hair.
"We've always enjoyed playing together! Right Tiffany?" Taeyeon nudged her elbow onto Tiffany's arm.
"Yes auntie!" Tiffany replied with enthusiasm, her eyes smiling with her.
"Aww, that's so cute of you. Now, how about help me with these baskets and bring them to the backyard so we can have a mini picnic?"
"Sure thing!" the two girls said in unison, which made the middle aged woman's heart flutter.
Minutes later, the three girls were now happily sitting under the tree eating sandwiches. The two kids were obviously happy, playing around and feeding each other. While Taeyeon's mother just watched them with a smile on her face. It was quite a sight, she thought.
Eventually, Tiffany grabbed the remaining sandwich inside the basket. Tiffany tried to hide it on her side, afraid that Taeyeon might see it and get angry. She slowly lowered her head on the side and was gonna take a bite, but then Taeyeon noticed it.
"Tiffany! That's not fair!" Tiffany stood up an ran with the sandwhich in her hand. Taeyeon did the same and chased Tiffany around the backyard. Taeyeon picked up her pace with an obvious determination on her face and then, she collided with Tiffany on the ground, with the sandwich held up high.
"We could've shared y'know" Taeyeon stood up and grabbed the sandwich from her hand, pinched it in half and gave it to her. She helped the girl to get back on her feet and went back to the tree.
During the remaining more time they spent eating fruits and drinking apple juice, Taeyeon thought of something she didn't knew at first so she chose to set it aside. She took a glance at Tiffany, who is now finished eating and only sitting down in the grass. Taeyeon laid her head on Tiffany's legs and used it as a pillow while looking at the green leaves of the young, happy tree.
"Mommy, I think I want to make a promise right now and you'll be the only witness here besides Tiffany." the woman furrowed her eyebrows a little, confused on what's gonna happen next.
"What is it honey?" she asked.
"I promise to take care of Tiffany forever, and be by her side forever. I won't let anyone hurt her and I will love her as much as how I love you mommy." the dork gave a silly grin and stole a quick peck on Tiffany's lips, leaving a confused, dazed, and reddened Tiffany.
Ahh.. why am I so clumsy back then? Why would a young girl promise like that to another girl and even steal a kiss? Hah, I guess that's Taeyeon Kim. Until now that I am 26 years old, an already grown woman with a job, I still don't know why would I do that to Tiffany. But promise is a promise right? And I never broke it.
"Taeyeon? What time are you gonna get out of there?"
"Tiffany! I told you not to wait for me! It's already dark outside and it's not safe!" Yes, Taeyeon was not that kind of person who gets angry easily. But know, she was and it's because of Tiffany's safety. The two are now in their eleventh grade and with the same schedules at all the subjects. The reason why Taeyeon was punished because her principal saw her littering on the hall. Now, she have to clean the long ass hall plus the rooms because of that shitty reason.
