Nic's POV

My head pounded with every step as I entered the building I liked to refer to as Hell, but in reality, it was my school. I scanned the familiar area for the one purple haired girl who held the cure for my hangover. I knew it wasn't the smartest idea to drink late into the night on a Sunday, but that never stopped me anyway.

Now, even though my head felt like there was a family of dwarves living in it, pounding away with their pickaxes, I couldn't help but smile when I spotted the five people who were easily the closest thing to a family I had.

"Kate, you really need to make me drink less at your parties, I can't keep doing this every week," I greeted, making them all smile, yet they all looked as dead as I felt inside. Kate just smiled knowingly, tossing me a small water bottle.

"You know it, girl. Now drink up, you look like you need it." Nodding in agreement, I quickly took a few swigs of the liquid inside, feeling the lukewarm tomato-y taste falling down my throat.

"Ugh, god these are awful, how do they work so well?" The purple haired girl just smiled, taking the bottle back before anybody noticed we had it in the school.

"It gives a nice kick in the face to keep the puke in your stomach. Besides, it's not my fault you guys get drunk off your asses at my place." Harper rolled her eyes as I sat next to her, looking across the table at Hayden who mirrored her.

"It kinda is, you give us all the alcohol to get us drunk off our asses. You were the drunkest out of all of us!" The rest of us nodded in agreement as Kate stuck out her tongue, which was her way of admitting defeat.

"But we can't blame you for how great Nic makes our drinks," the dirty blonde gay in front of me pointed out, making me just smirk.

"Hey, I know how to get people drunk. I say it's a talent, especially when they don't know they're drunk until they're shit-faced." Both Kate and Hayden rolled their eyes, but Lily leaned forward, giving me a small, shy smile.

"Maybe you should become a bartender." I smiled at the idea, leaning back in my seat.

"Finally, a goal for me to waste my life on instead of chicks. That's not a bad idea, thanks, Lil," I praised, making the small brunette smile and look over at Layla as she nodded in agreement. My small friend had the biggest crush on the almost mute badass blonde, and everyone at the table knew it. I think at this point she even stopped trying to hide it, since it wasn't doing anything for her anyway.

"How are you going to become a bartender if you can't even remember your classes?" Layla challenged smoothly, making me meet my light green eyes with her own dark violet ones.

"Drink recipes are written down at the bar, thank you very much. But, speaking of which, what are my classes?" Each person at the table groaned out loud at my question and Kate leaned towards me.

"Seriously, Nic, it's five classes, how can you not remember five freaking classes?" I just shrugged, causing her to roll her eyes while I still waited for an answer.

"So, nobody knows?" They all shook their heads, making me sigh and look around the cafeteria, moving my black beanie back to pull my short black hair out of my eyes. There had to be at least one person in the room that shared first period with me, the school wasn't that big. Then, as my eyes met a familiar figure from across the way, I felt a smirk rise to my cheeks. "I might be back; I think I know somebody who knows my classes."
