Natalie's POV
Once again, Nic convinced me to get into her car and let her take me somewhere I didn't know existed. I didn't complain this time around since all this past week, Nic has been on edge. Whenever we went out, she would look around uneasily and nervously tap her foot. Today she seemed relatively relaxed and if going wherever we were going would keep her that way, I would do it a million times over.
Currently her hand was tightly wrapped around mine while I played with her fingers. My feelings for her had grown immensely within the days since Halloween and, to be honest, I wasn't entirely sure how to handle them. More than once I had thought about confessing these feelings to Nic, but the fear of pushing me away and losing her was even worse than the fear of the feelings, so silent I stayed.
I had never felt this way about anybody before, and I wasn't sure how I would go on if I lost her. Just the thought alone made my chest tighten and breathing became difficult. My grip tightened around her hand subconsciously, making Nic glance at me.
"What'cha thinking about?"
"You," I didn't hesitate, meeting her glance as she smiled widely.
"What specifically?" Her eyes returned to the road ahead, though her smile remained. Now I hesitated a bit, but I didn't want to not answer her, so I gave her a right answer, yet didn't fully let my true feelings be shown.
"Your personality, your eyes, your smile, how you tease me, your smirk when you tease me, how you care for me, how you've opened up my world, how you annoy me, how you always wear that beat up vest, how you're always smiling, how you always get me to get into the car with you and go somewhere mysterious, how I love it and wouldn't trade it for anything in the world." Her grip around my hand was close to cutting off the circulation before, at a stoplight, she put her other hand behind my neck and pulled our lips together. The kiss was emotional, making me briefly wonder if my girlfriend shared my intense feelings. When she pulled away, our eyes met and she was smiling softly.
"How did I get so lucky?" I smiled, gently kissing her again before a honk made both of us jump back. "Oh, right, driving, that's a thing."
She waved apologetically to the car behind us then continued to drive to wherever we were going. At the thought of the driver behind us seeing us kiss, my cheeks were on fire and my heart beat rapidly. Now, I know Nic wasn't necessarily secret about our relationship, but we rarely found ourselves out in a public place with a lot of people aside from school and PDA wasn't really something I knew how to handle doing.
"Okay, cupcake, we're walking from here." Nic pulled the car to the side of a road while I looked around the area. I couldn't see anything around us that would tell me where we were actually going, so, naturally, I asked the all-knowing girlfriend.
"Nic, where are we going?" She just gave me a cheeky grin, exiting the car with me in tow.
"Don't worry, it's not far. Parking is just normally a mess up there." I nodded slowly, taking Nic's hand and walking close to her. She kissed my cheek affectionately before leading me down the street, to whatever location Nic had in that mind of hers. "I hope you like it, I haven't been here in a really long time, hopefully it's still the same."
My curiosity grew as we walked then my eyes widened excitedly at the sight of a Ferris wheel in the distance.
"No way, you're taking me to an amusement park?!" There was no hiding the excitement in my voice and Nic smiled widely at me.
"It's just a small on with one or two actual roller coasters, but it's one of my favorites." I smiled ever wider at her words, biting my lip from the excitement.
