The Event

- Tae's POV

Every step felt like I was going in slow motion. I can hear my heart thumbing louder and louder. I saw her, I saw them. I pause when I realize what I see. I hope I'm tripping. I pull out my phone.

- text messages

Me: yo your brother in the group Kalani brought I need you and Ty to come back where I was and look at something tho.

Tina: sure but what's going on.

Me: you'll see hurry up

It took her about 5 minutes but it feels like it's been hours.
"Look at the girl Lani wrapped up with" I pointed to her.
We could see there faces clearly with a safe distance.
Ty gasped " yo that's the girl coach been scouting. She got skills man. You said she was dope watching..."

"Yea okay I get it" I smacked my lips.
"That's who Lani been hanging with tho man." We thought of something and went to it. My two teammates walked to the group and Lani and the girl had their attention on them. I text Derek and tell him what's up. He takes the others the opposite way. I'm hoping I still know Lani well enough. I have to talk to her a few minutes.

- Kalani's POV

" Lani we going to the dunk tank" Derek yelled walking with the others.
King and I are talking to her maybe future teammates. I looked at her being so proud. Then I realized we didn't know where the dunk booth would be. I patted my pockets for my phone. Crap Jasmine was on snapchat with it.
"King I'm going to hurry and catch up with everyone. I think Jasmine still has my phone."

"Just wait a minute baby girl it won't be long. Plus I don't want you alone."
I liked how caring she was but the group was still visible.
"They're right there and if you keep your phone charged we wouldn't have this problem" I said so she gave me a smirk and looked over my head.
"Fine I'll keep my eye on you."

I blushed turning around and hurried to catch up to Jasmine.
I called for her "Jas.. Jasmine."
I pause and look at the station with a painter like I saw on a video. He was spray painting the lids of pots making a galaxy painting. I've always wanted to see one in person.

Wait my phone I thought.
"Jasmine" I walked back in the crowd. Someone touched my arm and I turn around and pause. I felt a burn in my throat and my eyes getting watery. My ex Tae stood in front of me.
"Lani" she stepped forward and I stepped back.

She sighed " just let me talk to you ok. Can you do that?"
" Tae I just can't right now" I turned to go back to king.
"Kalani" she turned me around holding me by both arms. " Please just listen and let me explain."

I didn't want to hear what she had to say. She has lied enough to me before. I tried to pull away but she wouldn't give in. All I want to do is leave, I need to get to king.

- Kings POV

I turn to check on lani. I got heated instantly seeing this stud pull her by her arm.
"Hold on man" I said turning to them before I left.
"Wait why" one of the players asked but I kept going.

Kalani was trying to get away but the girl was holding her by her arms.
I picked up my speed and I could see Jasmine coming from the other side looking like she was yelling.

I was almost behind Kalani.
"What the fuck do you think you're doing?" Jasmine yelled and pushed the girl.
I got behind Kalani and she jumped. Once she realized it was me she hugged me and I held her.

"Get the fuck away from me Jasmine, and you get away from Kalani." She stepped to me and pulled Kalani to her. I was heated and I pushed her and she pushed me back.
"King , Tae chill" Derek said grabbing my arm. I then realized I was about to punch her.
