Jason's pov
Why did I let Justin drag me to his church this morning? I could be out bow huntin' but I'm not. This is boring. The preacher walks up to the podium. "Now my daughter is gonna sing a song." He says. A girl in the first pew walks up to the podium wearing a white dress. "Who is she?" I whisper to Justin while staring at her. She's downright gorgeous! "Oh the preacher's daughter." He says. "Duh, man, I knew that. I meant what's her name?" "Oh uh... I'm not sure, ask her." He says. I sigh. She pulls out a hymn book. "Away in a manger, no room at the inn, our little Lord Jesus laid down his sweet head." She sings in a soft whispery voice that makes my eyes bug out of my head.
*after church*
She's with her dad at the doors, shaking hands. I walk over to her. "Thanks for coming." She says, shaking my hand. "Yeah you... Uh.... Sang really good... Can we..... Uh talk?" I mumble, nervously. She hugs her dad and we walk into the back grass near the playground for kids. "I don't think I've ever seen you here before." She says, fixing her braid. "Oh that's because this is my first time at your church, well at any church for that matter." I mumble, awkwardly scratching my head. She looks shocked. "Wow! You haven't gone to any church ever!?" I shake my head. "You my friend need some Jesus." She says, handing me her bible. "I... Uh... That's not what I wanted to talk to you about." "Then what is it?" "Well for starters your name. I'm Jason." "Miranda, pleased to meet you." She says, shaking my hand again. "And second, ya wanna go out next Friday?" "Wow, you caught me by surprise there. I mean I guess so." I smile. "Ok, cool, I'll pick you up Friday then." She smiles and nods. "As long as I see you at tonight's service." She says. "I... Yeah.... I'll be there." I gasp as she walks away. She turns around and waves then walks back into the church. I'm glad I found my way to church.
