Many, many, many years ago... where humans lived amongst dragons.
Well, maybe not that far.
Years ago, in a small town in Pennsylvania where winter is always full of fun surprises. Snowballs, snowmen, ice sculptures, you name it! Because a certain winter spirit always brings joy to the whole world every winter.
Oh, I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Won, Won Frost.
And I'm the spirit of Winter.
Winter, 2000
It was a cool and chilly evening, the sun finally setting and coloring the skies with hues of orange and pink. The winter spirit flew over the houses with a smile on his face, clutching his staff as it directed him along with the wind.
He stopped when he spotted one of the neighborhood kids outside on their porch, untying both his and his sister's shoe lace.
"Looks like little Jamie is up and ready to hit the snow," The spirit said, grinning as he flew down and stood in front of the boy. He put his hands in his pocket's and walked leaned against the door of Jamie's house.
"Looks like you've grown taller! Last time I saw you, you were this tall!" Won exclaimed, his hand hovering above his hip. The door suddenly opened which made the spirit fall to the floor with a thud. He looked up and saw Jamie's mom holding what seams to be blankets.
He laughed as he stood up and dusted his clothes, "Hey! That hurt, y'know? A little heads up next time?" His smile dropped when he felt Jamie's mom walk right straight through him, making him stumble a little. He clutched his chest and sighed.
Right. I forgot about the whole invisible thing.
300 years of isolation. 300 years without anyone being able to see or even talk to him. How can he make people believe in him when they can't even see him? Won frowned, he gripped his staff hard and flew towards the sky.
He doesn't know where he's going but he lets the wind take him. Anywhere, anywhere where he could scream, yell, shout, cry. Because no one else is there to understand him but himself.
The wind stopped and so did he, he landed softly on a frozen lake where he awakened. He remembered the moon talking to him, saying his name was Won Frost. He remembered having ice powers for the first time.
He looked up at the sky, the moon shining down on the spirit as if asking him, "What's wrong?" Won gritted his teeth and started shouting at the moon.
"This! This is wrong! You talked to me before, why can't you talk to me now? Tell me what I need to do, tell me so people can see me!" Won huffed as he started pacing around in circles.
"One night I was pulled out of the water, and then the next—I'm a winter spirit! Then, out of nowhere, I was suddenly invisible!" He then looked up at the moon—again—and pointed his staff. "For three-hundred-fucking years!"
He sighed as he dropped his arm, he looked down and saw his reflection on the hard ice, showing his white hair and pale skin.
"I just-" He groaned and scratched the side of his head, "I just want to be seen."
There was silence, leaves rustling as the winds picked up. He felt it caress his hair as if comforting him. He smiled and looked down at his staff, tears prickling his icy blue eyes. "Anywhere. Anyone—someone. Just not... here. I don't like it here."
