Oh no
I'm gonna be there always
After the pain has gone away
The feelings are so strong
This can be our song, this can be our song
Oh no
I'll never make you cry again
I'm gonna set things right again
And I won't let em go wrong
This can be our song, this can be our song

The first weeks of school were rough, for Mina and Ashton both.
Mina stayed with Ashton for the first month, her mother had enough on her shoulders with Anna to worry about.
Marcus had fallen in love with Mina long ago, he just didn't know how to show it. Ashton's mother allowed Marcus to stay one night a week with Mina.
On the third night he stayed, Ashton heard them fighting in the guest room next door to his.
He heard yelling, crying, loud footsteps. He sat against the wall listening.
They were fighting over him.
He couldn't believe the words he heard come from Marcus's mouth.
The same words Kayla spoke to him just a month previous.
"I see the way you are with him, Mina! You're more than just friends! You love him, Mina! You can't hide that forever!"
Mina cried, "I love you, Marcus!"
Ashton then heard muffled sobs.
"I love you, so much." She said quietly.
Ashton closed his eyes, then glanced over to the rock collection just in front of the door to his closet. He smiled to himself, biting his lip.
"Mina, I love you, but if your heart wants him, let it have him."
Mina sighed, drawing in a shaky breath.
Ashton listened intently to the drama next door.
He heard a kiss, an almost silent love confession, and receding footsteps as Marcus left.
Mina dropped to the floor in a silent mess before crawling to the door and standing up. She slowly got up the courage to open Ashton's door when he did it for her.
She hugged him around his middle and sobbed into his chest.
He picked her up, closing his door and sitting on the edge of his bed with her in his lap.
They talked about what an asshole he was for doing that, and about how he was probably cheating on Mina anyway.
Mina calmed down quickly, less than ten minutes passed before she got up and changed into one of Ashton's shirts instead of Marcus's.
The pair laughed, heading downstairs for some dinner.
Ashton's parents made it a date night, so him and Mina cooked, well, attempted to cook, some spaghetti.
They turned on a playlist in Ashton's phone titled Favorite.
The playlist consisted of Green Day, Blink-182, Hey Violet, and, surprisingly, Avril Lavigne.
Rock N Roll was Ashton's favourite by her. The best friends danced in the loneliness of the kitchen, singing along to whatever song came on next. They forgot about the pasta, overcooking it and completely spacing the sauce.
Ashton laughed, straining the soft noodles as Mina poured a jar of tomato sauce into the pot. They finished making their dinner, and, while it was still cooling down, they danced around and pretended they were in a music video for You Dont Love Me Like You Should by Hey Violet.
Ashton wrapped his arms around Mina's shoulders while they both laughed.
Mina sighed happily, taking both his hands in hers and pressing her lips to his knuckles.
"Thank you. For everything." She turned to face him, holding his hands behind her back.
"It's not a big deal, Mina. You'd do the same for me. We're best friends, its what they do." He smiled, kissing her cheek.
"Best friends don't do that." She giggled.
"Not all of them. But I do."
The pair ate their dinner in comfortable silence.
They settled down on the couch watching a horror movie. Ashton's arm hung loosely over Mina's shoulders.
Even though they had both been through horrible heartbreak, they didn't feel too bad. They each had the other, the only person who really understood. They got each other.
They had since they met, almost 18 years before.
"So, when's the show?" Ashton blurted out randomly.
"Two weeks. Its on a Saturday. But I was hoping we could leave Friday night and stay in New York for the weekend."
"That would be cool. I'll ask mom. I'm sure she won't mind."
The next morning Ashton's mother called him downstairs. She sounded sad.
"Yeah?" He said as he turned the corner from the stairs into the living room.
"You remember Bryana and Alex right?" She asked, holding a tissue to her face.
"Yeah...?" Bryana was his mothers friend from college, Alex was her husband.
"They've been in an accident."
He looked to the floor. "Are they okay?"
His mother walked over to him, taking him in her arms. "The funeral is tomorrow."
He started crying, holding onto his mother tightly.
He brought Mina along to the funeral, for support for both him and his mother.
He saw a boy he recognised from the starbucks in town. Calum, he thought. With Jayde Brown, the bartender at the stripclub in the next town over. His mother knew her, as well. None of them even exchanged glances. They were all connected to Bryana in some way, and that was enough.
"Ash, I'm really sorry..." Mina said when they all got home. Ashton slumped up to his room with Mina following. He sat on his bed looking lost.
"Are you gonna be okay?" Mina asked.
Ashton shrugged. She placed a kiss to his cheek, getting him to smile the smallest bit. She then kissed him, full on his lips, and went downstairs.
