It was lunchtime and it was as loud as usual; just like any other day in the grand cafeteria. The sounds of people talking over each other gave you a headache. I caught up to Abby and Greg, cutting the line in the process. After getting our food we sat at our usual table in-between the chess club and soccer team.
Greg immediately started scarfing down his spaghetti. "Greg stop eating like that, you'll choke." Abby implied with a motherly feel to it. "Who are you, my mother?" Greg said with his mouth full of food. "Ugh your such a nasty eater." She said rolling her eyes. Greg ate like a pig, spaghetti sauce covered his mouth. He certainly would be in use of a bib for the way he was eating.
"Come on Aiden, I need the math homework." He whined. I looked down at his plate and saw that he was already done eating. "Umm, not until you wash your hands and face. You'll get sauce on it." He scans his plate then frowns at me with droopy eyes. "Guess I have 3 mothers now." He pouted. He got up and went to the bathroom to wash his self.
"Hey uhh Abby." I said quite nervously. "Yeah Aidy babe." She said showing interest. "I talked to him." I moved my fingers slowly, making sure I did the air quotes. "Oh my god you did", she shouted. Many heads turned our way to look at a psyched out Abby. I was about to have a heart attack; she's gonna be the death of me, I swear.
"Abby people are looking." I said nervously trying not to look up at the people that stopped what they were doing to stare at us. She looked around and notice the number of necks she broke. "Sorry", she frowned. I laughed a little as everyone finally stopped staring.
So I told her what happened. I made sure I didn't leave out a single detail because she was the Dr.Phil/Oprah of my life. She basically has been the main one who is there to comfort me and help my deal with all the problems I've had over the years. Only she knows some of the things that have happened that I wish to never tell another soul.
I tell Greg a lot but not as much as I tell Abby.
"What you say to him." She questioned while leaning closer. "Barely anything." I lowered my head thinking about my encounter with my man-crush-forever. "Aww Aidy, your so shy, don't worry." She said rubbing my arm. It's not my fault I'm this way.
Being shy is annoying and a challenge to its helpless victims. When there's that special someone but you can't work up the courage to tell them how you feel.
Thats me.
I wanna tell James how I feel, but that's completely out the window. Even if I did tell him, it wouldn't matter.
I'm gay, he's not. And I'll never be with him.
"He might like you." She whispered trying to cheer me up. I know she was trying to give me wishful thinking but it was not working. I shook my head hysterically, "Nah not me. Maybe if I were you, he would."
"You never know." She replied giving me a smirk. She took a scoop of spaghetti that she barely touched and shoved it in her mouth.
"Remember when we became friends." She said reaching in her purse pulling out an old picture. "Yeah. You said your almost as cute as me, we're friends now." I laughed. I looked at the picture and it was me and Abby in 2nd grade. She kept the picture for 10 years and it was still in good shape. "Your still the same Aidy I meet on that day."
Aww that was so nice. I love her.
"What's this?" Greg interrupted our moment while snatching the picture. "Don't rip it!" Abby grunted, snatching the photo back. "Sheesh, calm down." He replied holding up his hands to defend himself from a fierce and swift hit. "This is me and Aiden's very first picture, so you can't just go snatching it", she scolded.
