My heart felt like I wanted to puke and disintegrate. My hands began to shake and I got a piercing pain in the pit of my stomach. I couldn't send a message to my limbs to move because thats how drastic I felt.
I felt someone tapping, nudging, and whispering to me but I couldn't listen to them. I thought I saw my life flash before my eyes and all the events that I have ever experienced up to this point became instant memories. My body felt exposed, lost, and dead. I look around my surroundings and see nothing but trees and a big figure next to me.
Few Hours Earlier...
"Sup", I said peeking out the crack of my door.
I open the door for Greg and he had his entire "sleepover at my house" equipment with him. His sleeping bag was rested on his hip and it looked like he just threw anything into the bag. He looked drained and ghostly pale. Yep, typical Greg.
"Dude do you still have my spare inhaler? I left my usual one at home." He said exhausted trying to catch his breath. "Umm did you walk here?" I said letting him in and closing the door. He dropped all his stuff and huffed as he breathed trying to survive an asthma attack.
"Yeah", he aired out reaching for his throat.
"Aww man, hold on." I quickly shuffled up to my room and grabbed a box off my nightstand. As I made my way down the steps I opened the box and tossed Greg the inhaler. Greg sprayed the medicine three times and exhaled with relief.
"Holy crap you just saved my life." He laughed and got up off his knee to breathe in some life back in his lungs. "Were you running? There air out there is kinda dry and thin." Greg is too boneheaded to remind himself he has asthma. His mom gave me a spare inhaler just incase something like this happens so he won't collapse on himself.
This isn't even the first time this came in handy. It bailed us out like ten other times since he's too careless. So everyday, I carry his spare inhaler incase his life needs saving.
"Sorry, I just wanted to get here faster." He hands me the inhaler and I put it in my pocket. I face palm. "You gotta think man. You could've dropped dead before you even got here."
"Sorry mom number 3, it won't happen again." He picks his stuff up and carries it to my room.
"Oh and when are we heading out." He lets go of his things to give his overworked arms a rest. He sits on the floor and undoes his flannel button-up, revealing a t-shirt.
"As soon as James gets here, we'll be on our way." He nodded and rummages through his belongings and set them up where he wanted. He unzips his duffle-bag and sucks up a liter of water.
"Uhh...do you know what people are saying?" Greg said.
"About what?"
"Umm...you." He scratches his head and looks the other way.
People? Talking about me? Well thats a new lead. I got a little heartache because people don't normally talk about me since I'm not all that popular. Either way, it must not be good.
"Me? Well what are they saying?" I didn't like using the word 'they', because 'they' could be anyone. It could be just one person stirring the pot or it could in fact be everyone. I look at Greg to get a gist of what people are saying.
"Well people know its not true already. But rumors have gone around saying you and that Brian boy are 'together'." He coughs afterwards, playing with his collar.
I could do nothing but laugh. For a second I thought he was going to say something about me and James.
"I know. Its a stupid rumor haha." Greg laughs along with me.
