The Last First; Reunion

"Who was that?" Travis asked curiously. "Oh Candice, letting me know that she is starting to receive guest for your coming home party." I said knowing what he was going to ask next. "Oh so no special guest? Like my children for instance?" Travis asked with both eyebrow raise to his hairline. "We had the conversation already Trav, DCF took them away when you went to Rehab." I said feeling bad to break the news to him.

We walked back to the car but Travis took much more smaller steps then I did. It was oblivious that the news bothers him to the fullest. Travis face was melted with the gloomiest face expression imaginable. His face was once again, buried in his chest, he knew he failed his one mission with his kids. Seeing his daughter face was the closest to seeing his wife and he lost the opportunity. Travis comprehended what needed to be done, and that was his prime mission. Operation, get his life back on track and get his kids custody.

After particularly crawling to the car, Travis made it to the passenger seat and sat down. "Buckle up buddy, it's the law." I said to draw at least a smirk from his face. But I could've waited all day and it won't have come so I started the car. I put the can in reverse and back up slowly and Travis laid his face on the window. I looked over at Travis and Travis looked as if he was a little kid. And I was driving him away from his friends and going to move up north or something. I knew my brother better then my favorite movie or book perhaps. With that being said, some of the things he does still surprise me. So I locked all the door and window before I put the car in drive. (Maybe this would push him over the edge and Travis may want to jump out the car.)

I constantly looked over to Travis during the drive and he never lifted his head off the window. Travis didn't adjust his position or nothing, he just had a blank stare. I though to myself , "It would be a good ideal to drive the speed limit." Travis had no reaction to none of the songs that was being played on the radio, which was weird. I had to break this silence somehow. "Travis we going to party hard today, kick our feet up with our family." I said softly to make sure I didn't alarm him. Travis lifted his head slightly to look over to my direction, and gave me a head nod upwards. Travis immediately places his head back in the same exact place on car window. As if he marked it or maybe he didn't with all that grease in his head.

I pull up to my house and I don't see any cars parked in front or on the side of my house. (This woman rushed me for no reason, now this going to make him more depressed.) I drove up to my parking garage, not the one closet to the door I gave that one to Candice. "Okay Travis, do you need manpower to get you in the house or you can manage?" I said to spark up a smart comment back. Instead Travis unbuckles his seat belt and made his way to the door. I turned off the car and jumped out the car after him. "Travis I don't think everyone's here yet but they are on the way." I said to give him the heads up that it's not going to be crowded. Then I jumped in front of him and unlocked the door.

[Welcome Home Daddy] that was shouted from the living room. Travis dropped to his knees and my jaw dropped too.
