I shot up out of bed and almost caused Belle to fall out next to me. And before anything starts, we didn't do anything. I had just a had nightmare about, him. "Del, what's wrong?" Belle was so cute when she was all scruffy, but even she couldn't cheer me up. "It's-it's nothing. Just a nightmare, that's all." She smiled. "You're a bad liar." "You're a demon, you can sense these things. Like me and Dan can." Her expression darkened and she frowned. "Tell me what's wrong." "Fine. It's just a nightmare about someone I killed, okay?" She started smiling again. "Okay, I believe you. What time is it?"
I looked out the window. "Somewhere around 8 in the morning, I think." I actually slept through the night, which was new. Around Belle I felt, calm, at peace. "Guess I better get started with the day." She hopped out of bed and went to the bathroom. I got up, through on some of my normal clothes and went downstairs. Tasha was cooking an egg for herself and Dan was eating cereal, Fate was still missing. I wasn't worried, he did that pretty often. "Morning egg head. How the hell did you sleep?" I looked at Dan and smiled. "Good. There any cereal left?" Tasha looked up from her egg. "You're in a good mood. Why?" Belle called from the stairs. "Hey Del, there any shampoo in you're shower!? I can't find any!" "Top left shelf!" "Thanks!" Dan and Tasha both looked at me and their jaws hit the ground. "No! No way!" "Nothing happened, she just slept by me."
Tasha high fived me and Dan gave me a fist bump anyways. "So, you're not gonna abandone her?" "Of course not. She lives with us and she's a demon." Dan did a spit take and Tasha just laughed. "I told you there were other refugees." "I though you were just trying to make me feel better." I went into the pantry and grabbed a box of corn flakes and poured a bowl. Belle skipped down the stairs and looked at me. "There enough for me?" "Yep. Here." I tossed the milk and started eating. A shriek pierced the air and we all raced outside to hear the sound of a fight going on not too far away. "What the heck?" I flew up and looked over at a clearing and saw, what looked like, a angel with brown and red wings fighting a bunch of hell hounds. I slammed into the ground and told the others. "We need to help her!" They all raced through the forest and I flew over. She was fighting with her barehands and wasn't using magic. "What the hell?" I thought and landed behind her.
She spun around and almost punched me in the face when she saw my wings. "Chill! I'm here to help." The others burst through the underbrush and started fighting back. Belle had gotten a black bow somewhere along the way and was sniping from a tree. I whipped out my sword and tossed a knife to the new girl. "Better than nothing." I saw one try and get her from behind and I impaled it. The others killed the rest and she gutted a few herself. I turned around and spoke to her. "You okay?" She had strange brown eyes. Belle had black ones. "I'm fine. My names Max. What's yours?" "Delsin." I introduced the others and she started crying. "Hey, what's wrong? They get you bad?" She shook her head and looked at me. "The others. Wade, Embry, Davon, Bronwyn. All dead. At least you escaped them." "Who?" "AURAUS"
