I lay on the grass, pain burning through my body. It felt like I was being slowly ripped in half. I coughed and dark red blood leaked out of my mouth. "Heh, red, like a human." I saw a light descend from above.

I woke up on cold stone. Everything felt fine. I was in a maze, the sky invisible in the darkness. No sun, no sky, no moon and no stars. Just a pale light on the ground and fog surrounding me. I stood up and looked around and saw that the back and forward paths were open, but shrouded in darkness. "So, which way?" I shrugged and walked forward into the shadows. It was, quiet, eerily quiet. It was cool, not pleasant cool, cool as in there was no living warmth. I heard the creaking sound the mansion doors made. I spun around a corner and watched as the door clicked closed. "Am I alone?" I walked towards the door and reached for the handle. Just as I touched it a volt of pain shot up my arm.

I leapt up and bared my weapons. The Percy guy was too the side of me. Tasha and Dan were looking over me. Belle over by a tree, crying. "Dude, are you okay? You were out for two hours." Tasha was looking at Percy in shock. "P-Percy?" I looked over at him and watched as blood dripped out of his mouth. "Are you okay!? What wrong!?" His eyes traveled down to a blood soaked spot on his shirt. There was a sword poking out, and I was holding the sword. "Why!? When did I do this!!??" His eyes clouded over and he fell.

I rushed over too his side and looked at him. "I'm sorry! Don't die!" His eyes closed and I punched the dirt so hard I left a crater. "Dude, I'm sorry. If-" I cut Dan off. "Leave." "But-" "LEAVE!! Both of you!!" Dan and Tasha nodded and left. I lay on the ground sobbing. Belle put a hand on my shoulder. "I'm sorry." "It's-it's okay. He was probably gonna kill himself at some point. I found a noose in his room." "See what I told you? Weak." I got up and started walking to the mansion. "Aren't you gonna fly?" "No." Belle took the hint and we stayed silent for the rest of the way. I was suspicious of the door handle, but there was no pain this time. It creaked open I went straight to the kitchen. Belle just stood by the door way and I grabbed a bottle of whiskey. "Can I have some?" "No." I tilted my head back and drank half of the thing all at once. "Whoa!! Are you trying to drink yourself into a coma!?" "Yes."

I sat on the ground and kept drinking. "It's amazing." I looked up from my booze. "What is?" "Well, you've taken it upon yourself to kill any rogues that appear." "Yeah, because if I don't the world I hide gets turned into rubble." "But you keep saving the humans at risk." "Because I should." "But you haven't given up on them." I shrugged and took another swig. "Have you noticed Max has been missing all day?" I shrugged again. "It's not my job to babysit mortals." Then I noticed that the mansion was trashed. "What happened?" "You only noticed the mess now?" "I've been drinking!" She rolled her eyes. I climbed up and ran up to the attic room. The door was off its hinges and there was blood everywhere. On the floor was a black blazer, and on the wall was a message. "Come and get her." It read. Below it was written the name, Deadgate.
