Chapter 17: Collapse

I woke up on cold stone. There was no sky, no moon, no sun, no clouds and no stars. I stood up and looked around. I was in a maze with the paths forward and back open. There was no light, just a pale mist everywhere. Both paths were shrouded in shadow, and I walked forward. There was a creak, the same one the door to the mansion made. I turned a corner and saw the door standing, open by a crack. I walked up to it and opened it. What I saw destroyed me. "Nonononononono!!!!!!" I shouted as the colour drained from my wings and my eyes turned the colour of storms.

Belles POV

Deadgate died and Delsin passed out. I was dropped when Delsin tackled him. I sprinted over and saw his wings had become a blue grey. His eyes shot open as something exploded in the compound. They were the same colour as his wings and I looked up as the building was engulfed in flames. "Delsin, great you're awake! I think all the others in the building are escaping and we can help them! If we don't they'll die in that fire!" His eyes filled with fear and he got up. "Come on. We are leaving." He started dragging me to a car and I fought back. "We've got to save them! Come on!" "NO!! We are leaving right this instant! They can fend for themselves!" I punched him in the gut and walked away. "No! We are saving you're freinds, what we came here to do!" I turned around and felt him grab my arm. I got dragged to the car and was being forced in. I started struggling. "NO! Let me go!" He punched me in the face. "GET IN THE BLOODY CAR NOW!!!"

I gave up and sat in the backseat as he hotwired the car. He started driving and I jumped out again. He didn't even look back as the entire compound exploded.

Delsin's POV

I drove away from that place and Belle with tears in my eyes and fear in my heart. I coughed up some sort of blue smoke and drove on. I was never going to leave the mansion or use my powers again. Not after what I saw. Not after I saw the truth.
