Hallelujah...All fundraising activities are done and we raised the required amount. I even earned myself extra bucks. All that was left to do was convince my dad to let me go for the trip. He always comes home late due to all the office work so today I decided to stay awake and hang around till he comes back. I make his favorite meal which is lemon chicken and mashed potatoes plus some ancient pricey wine and he might allow me to go. However it didn't matter if I get his consent or not, as long I want to go, I will make sure that I will. I'm asking for permission just for the sake.

"Something smells nice in here!" exclaims my dad as he enters the front door.

"Surprise, I made dinner today" I say as I watch him take his seat on the dining table.

"What is the occasion, it's not every day that I come home to be welcomed by dinner made by my daughter."

"Well let's start eating first I'm starving and I can hear the wolves in your stomach."

"Truth said"

I'm supposed to be eating but instead I'm being eaten by my apprehension. I decide to ask him now or it's never. If I don't do it now dinner might get done and I wouldn't have asked him

"so dad there is a trip in school for all senior students, I really want to go for it and all the cost are being taken care of by the school,"

"So this is why dinner was made"

"Sort of, I really want to go for this trip dad I worked really hard on my exams and wanted to go on this voyage with my friends plus its next week"

"I'm sorry sweetie but you can't go"

"Why not?" I shouted. He is getting on my nerves. I didn't make dinner for no reason.

"First of all I'm not letting you go all alone on a trip to a place I'm yet to even know about,"

"I'm not going alone dad, they're gonna be teachers and friends with me even Ashley is coming!"

"I don't trust those teachers of yours," he says. What the hell does he want to imply.

"I don't care dad, I trust them enough!" this argument kept getting stupider.

"It doesn't matter Kim you are still not going for the trip!" he exclaims as he gets up from the table, "this matter is officially closed; I don't want to discuss it further."

I'm more than infuriated right now. If looks could kill my dad certainly wouldn't be here. I hate how he likes to have total control over my life. I'm almost an adult and I should be able to make my own decisions.

.................After five hours................

"Kim, what are you doing outside at window at ...?" She turns to look at her clock, "three in the morning!"

"I'm sneaking my way to the trip, there's no way I'm letting my dad stop me!"

"So you're going spend the night here?"

"Can you first get my suitcases and I up there, I'll answer your questions after."

She throws her tied bed sheet rope and helps me get up to her room.

"Jesus, what's in your suitcases, elephant babies?" Damn it was a struggle carrying these suitcases.

"Just a few necessities, which I need!"

She sets my suitcases next to hers and I grab my pajamas and lie down next to her on her bed. I did what I wanted to and my dad was going to be so pissed with me. Ashley and I were talking about what we are going to do on the trip and how hot the boys will be there. Don't judge us; we are normal hormonal teenagers just like you. After a few minutes of talking, we fell asleep.

--------------------------------------------------

"Wake up Kimmy!" I feel a poke, "I swear you are like a hibernating bear!"

I hear an annoying voice but it's too early for me to wake up. The next thing I know, I'm being tickled so hard that it hurts my ribs I even think they even broke a couple or two.

"Urghhh, stop I'm up!" I yell at the person who woke me up.

Before I can yell at them anymore I heard Ashley scream at me, "Hurry up we are going to be late!"

Late for what...oh my god our flight leaves soon! I fly out of her bed and head right towards the bathroom in her room. I rush to all the requirements and even grab a granola bar on my way out. I call a taxi and load Ashley's and my language into its booth. We tell the taxi driver to step on it because we were late. I just hope we don't miss our flight.

We spot our teachers and the rest of our classmates. We run towards them almost tripping over suitcases.

"Kim and Ashley any later and we would have left without you!" bellows Mr. Smelly

"Well you yelling at us with a whale big mouth won't do us any good, let's move now," I say as I shove pass him.

I get my ticket and head towards the gate. All that's between me and my leisure is this 5 hour flight. I hope my dad doesn't get crazy and the CSI after me. I never have understood him and his control freak ways. My letter will get my words to him by tomorrow morning or night if he decides to skip breakfast.

"Passengers please fasten on your seatbelts we are about to take off" says the airhostess from the front of the aircraft with a fake toothy smile.

I think she accidentally ate her lipstick or something. Anyways I take my seat and am soon joined by an old woman who takes her seat right next to me. The seatbelt light from above flicks on indicating that we have to put on our seatbelts. After listening to the boring lecture on safety and emergencies, the plane took off giving me butterflies in my stomach.

The light soon goes off and we are free to unbuckle. I'm about to watch the 'Scary movie 2' when the nice lady next to me speaks, "hi, are you on your summer vacation?"

"Ya, my classmates and I are going for a voyage, we just aced our finals so it's a treat for us''

"That's good, congrats," she says with pride, "I'm Amy by the way."

"Thank you, I'm Kim, are you travelling alone?" I ask curiously

"No my husband is with me but we got separate seats," she said with sadness in her voice.

"Oh, well where is he sitted?" I ask wondering if I could help her.

I know what you thinking 'how a self-centered person offer help to people, leave alone the elderly.' Well the thing is that I had a grandma who I loved dearly; I was closest to her after my mother's death. In fact she is the one who helped me cope up with it, while my dad ignored me; she depleted all her time with me. When she died I lost all my emotions especially empathy however Amy reminds me of her and I think that makes her inclusive in the list of people I care about.

"He is sitted a few rows behind, with one of your classmates,"

"In that case I'll be able to help," I say with glee as I stand up.
