He continued his walk home, too afraid to turn around in case the police were there. He mentally punched and kicked himself. What if the police got some DNA of the books, and took him to jail. What if he had to pay for all the books? His family could barely buy food, much less than over a thousand books.

He didn't even realize he was at his house until he was at the front door. He heard the cry of the baby even out here. His mother had just given birth to her 2nd child a year ago, and was pregnant accidentally with another.

He turned the key through the door, praying to God that he wouldn't have to explain why he was late. Luckily he realized as he went in, she had just started setting the table. He smiled at the wonderful mother he had.

She was a young woman, just now starting to get tired. She was 18 when she had had Edwin, having run away from foster care a year earlier. She looked much older than she should have, taking care of one children. She turned around and smiled warmly at him, rushing over to give him a hug.

Even though he had long grown taller than her, he still would never get over her hugs. Her dark brown hair pulled back into a tight bun, her blue eyes smiling back at him. "Go get the others, dinners almost ready."

"I have to study, I'm sorry," he said. "Don't worry I'll bring it up to you."

He walked down the hall, and knocked on Lilly's door.He heard her getting up and quickly ran to his room to stop from getting trampled.

He went to his room, and immediately took out the library book. He traced his finger over the interact designs. Suddenly there was a knock at the door. He smiled as he saw his favorite family member , and the youngest child.

Lilly peeked an eye out from the doorway, innocent and shy. He pretend not to have seen her. She slowly crept up to him, not knowing that he was watching her through the window. When she was close enough, he turned around grabbing her, putting the plant of food on the desk.  He twirled her in the air, listening to her playfully laughs and squeaks. A mess of dirty blonde hair went flying everywhere, as blue eyes looked up at him with delight.

He put her back down, and she started chatting away about some guy named Michael. "And he's really handsome, but I don't think he'll kiss me cause he likes Angela, but-" "Hey I have to study so can we talk later?" She ran out of the room, for dinner he supposed. He ended up forgetting about the book, and instead doing his homework for 2 hours. He took his shower, washing his dark brown hair, and having to lean down just a bit. The shower head didn't completely reach his 5'10 height. It was only when he was getting into bed, after brushing his teeth while everyone was asleep, rubbing his brown eyes, that he noticed something strange.

The window to his bedroom was open. He felt the cool air on his skin, and as he went to close the window, he noticed that there were three shadows now. He wasn't alone in his room.
