It wasn't truly his fault that the library was completely destroyed. It just happened. Edwin couldn't explain it, but there was no else in the library except him and the janitor.

He had just gone in there to get more information on the project him and his group was doing. He was just looking,he had to be home before 6, or else dinner would get cold, and the last time that happened his mother hadn't taken it well.

The library at his high school, was quite impressive. For a small town in the middle of nowhere (aka Wichita, Kansas) it was the pride of the school. They didn't have the best sports team, even though they had many beefy guys, so they focused themselves on knowledge.

Edwin had been looking for a book about airplane's because he knew his father wouldn't have time to talk to him about it. His father, George Tomly, made airplane's. Although he wasn't very busy nowadays, due to machines being made by...well...machines.

He had been wandering the library for quite some time, wondering about checking out a few books, when suddenly he heard the squealing of a trash bin. He turned around to see the janitor, a balding man with glasses, turn out of the library.

He had dropped a big brown book. Edwin was surprised he hadn't heard it. But then again, the janitor could be dead for all he knew. "Sir, you dropped your book!"

He grabbed the book and suddenly felt a strange energy. It was like electricity flowing through him with such warmth. It had taken him by surprise, he had read many books in his life but none had ever really felt like this one.

So instead of going after the janitor he just stood there and observed the book. It wasn't heavy, but it certainly wasn't light. Which was strange for the book was in fact very thick. The cover had many intricate designs, but there seem to be no title.

Edwin was always curious. He knew that one day it would probably get him killed(his teachers had said that before). As he opened it though, something inexplicable happens. He opened to the first page, and a blast of light came from the book. It was powerful, and somehow knocked Edwin off his feet.

Not only did it knock him off his feet, but also every bookshelf in the library came crumbling down with tremendous force. The crash was deafening and books scattered everywhere.

He blanked out for a second then looked around. Terrified and confused he grabbed the book and ran out pf the library, out of the school, and halfway home before stopping. He knew it looked bad. He knew that the janitor saw he was there. He knew that somehow, someway, something had happened.
