Edwin had never been more terrified in his life. Mainly because he had never skipped school, didn't come home, or give any indication that he was ok. He couldn't imagine what his mother had gone through. But he was about to find out as him, Oswald, and Wendy were all standing outside the front door. Slowly he lifted his hand and pressed the doorbell. Immediately the door was thrown open, and there stood his mother, hair messily out into a pony tail, with dark circles under her eyes.

"Edwin," she exclaimed, throwing he arms around him. He basked in her embrace as he felt her clutch onto him for dear life. But just like that she pulled away with anger on her face.

"WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN?! I WAS WORRIED SICK YOUNG MAN, THE SCHOOL CALLED AND SAID YOU WEREN'T THERE AND I WAITED FOR YOU TO COME HOME, BUT THEN YOU DIDN'T AND I CALLED THE COPS THINKING YOU HAD RAN AWAY OR YOU WERE KIDNAPPED AND THEN YOU JUST WALTZ BACK IN HERE WITH-"

He looked over and realized Oswald was still in his bathrobe from earlier. Wendy was still in wrinkled clothes and her hair was falling out of the ponytail, with some of the mascara she had worn smeared under her eyes. Edwin realized this probably wasn't the best introduction to the people who had shown him a secret world, took him on a train, and kept him over night.

"My apologies Mrs. Tomely. I am Oswald and this is my grand-daughter Wendy. We have come to talk to you about something your son does."

His mother looked from him, to Edwin then Wendy. "What the hell is going on? Who are they and, you do something? And have friends?"

Edwin couldn't help but wince at how terrible it had sounded, but the truth was also there that he couldn't ignore.

"I want an explanation, NOW!"

"And you will have one mam, but first may we come inside?"

At that his mother slowly opened the door, eyeing the new guests suspiciously. He watched as Oswald came into his house while Wendy stayed back for a second, and held out her hang for his mother to shake.

"Hi, I'm Wendy and that's Oswald. We have some information for you about what you sons gonna do for the next couple of days, months, years."

His mom just looked down right confused. Yet she still followed Wendy inside which Edwin took as a good sign. Once inside she sat on the couch, with Wendy, Oswald, and Edwin across from her.

"Edwin will you mind going to pack all of belongings please. While I talk to your mother alone. Wendy if you will please assist him"

There was an uncomfortable silence before slowly both of them stood up and Wend started going to his room with Edwin close behind.

"LEAVE THE DOOR OPEN. I don't want any funny business happening!"

"Mom...."

With that Edwin stepped into his room. "How long before I can see them again?"

"Umm, well thats a uhhh.... a little hard... to uhhh....decided ummm."

"What do you mean," Edwin asked suspiciously.

"Well it would be very dangerous to come see them often, but you can certainly write letters, but they can't write back. You can probably see them every 6 months, or once a year at the most," Wendy said avoiding his eyes.

"Why couldn't I have known that, ohh i don't know, earlier?!"

"Hey you were the one who wanted to do this. You should have done your research before you just jumped in, life lesson for you there."

"Oh come on.."

With that Wendy went to his closet and grabbed a bunch of shirts off the racks, letting them go over his bed. "Will need to pack all of your clothes, bedding, toiletries, and anything else you want." With that she pulled out of her pocket a small bag, tapped it and watched it grow into a full bag.

With that they got to work, grabbing all his clothes from his closet and dresser. Wendy opened the suitcase and Edwin put all the clothes in, watched as Wendy shut it and flipped a small lever to "Layer 2" and opened it again to an empty suitcase. They then put his bedding in and his pillows, flipping another switch saying "Layer 3".

"You can put anything you want into the next couple, including books, games, maybe a photograph if you want." With that Edwin grabbed his Harry Potter collection, his Percy Jackson books, a photobook of him and his family last year on a trip, his toothbrush, hairbrush, his computer, and his headphones.

Looking at his room now it was so strange. His bed was practically gone, some of his belongings that took up most of his room were gone making the room seem strangely bare. He had never moved, stayed in the same town his whole life, and now it seemed like he was leaving forever. He standed in the bare room, feeling a strange feeling off sadness yet adventure was brewing in his mind. He heard voices and turned around to see wendy crushed at the stairs, listening in. He walked over, crouching down next to her tightly in order to hear, yet not get caught.

"So, he has these powers, but you don't know what they are yet?"

"Correct, Mrs.Tomly. Might I ask who Edwin's father was?"

"I..I umm am not quite sure. I was 18 when I had him and...well was a bit of a partier...I had ran away from home... went to california of all places. After a couple months I found out I was pregnant, but I had no idea how to contact or where to start with. Why do you ask?"

"Well his powers can be genetic, maybe skipped a generation or it came from his fathers side. I hope you understand when I say you won't see him very often. Once a year or every 6 months most likely, for his and your families safety."

There was a moment of silence before a small ok came out. "I will check to see how the packing is going," Edwin's mother said. With that both Edwin and Wendy got up and ran back to his room, acting like they had just finished. Edwin's mother appeared in the doorway, and Wendy took that as a sign to leave the room for a moment.

"So, you have these weird powers. And your gonna be gone for a while."

"Yeah."

There was a moment of silence before he was embraced in a hug, her hands holding him in a protective hug, in the way only a mother could. He wrapped his arms around her shoulders and back, knowing this would be the last time he hugged his mother in a while. They stayed there for a couple moments, until she pulled back with water in her eyes.

"Promise me you'll try to stay safe. Please?"

He knew he couldn't promise her that, but he knew she wouldn't sleep at night if she thought he wouldn't be safe. He smiled,"Of course."

"Ok."

With that she pulled away completely, patting him on the back before saying," By the way, never thought you would bring a girl home like this."

"Mom..."

"What? She's cute, doesn't seem like she would be a bad person to date."

With that they grabbed the trunk, and made their way downstairs to where Oswald and Wendy were waiting by the door. Wendy pushed on the trunk and it shrunk to small size, and put it into her pocket. They went outside where Edwin and his mother hugged once more, and then they started walking. Edwin turned around once before turning the corner, seeing his mother with tears in her eyes, waving him bye.

And with that he walked with the old man in a bathrobe, and his grand daughter to a train that appeared out of nowhere.
