"What are you going to tell the kids?" Harry asked sitting next to Liam with his arm around Liam's shoulders rubbing his arm
"I don't know" Liam shrugged sadly "They know something's up cause I sent them to grandmas"
"Well I'm sure Cecilia knows don't ya think?" Niall asked
"Yeah, she seemed to know" Liam said looking at his feet
"Hey Li" Zayn said squatting in front of him making Liam look up into his eyes "Don't worry about the kids right now okay? I want you to worry about you and Sophie right now okay?"
"I'm always going to worry about the kids" Liam said playing with his fingers
"I know but put that worry in the back of your mind and just worry about yourself, we can only do so much" Zayn said patting Liam's knee before getting up and walking over to where Perrie and Demi were waiting.
"Let's go back-" Harry started
"What? No way!" Liam said quickly
"Let me finish" Harry said "Let's go back, and talk to the doctors. And get a real explanation of what's happening. We will go with you and be there every step of the way"
"I don't know H" Liam said looking down at his hands
"I think that's a good idea, just us five, okay? We'll be there with you" Niall said sitting on the other side of Liam and throwing his arm around Liam's shoulders giving his arm a reassuring squeeze
"What about Perrie and Demi?" Liam asked
"They're going to watch the kids for us" Zayn explained walking over and grabbing Liam's arms pulling him up and wrapping his arm around Liam's shoulder as they walked to the kitchen.
"What are you doing Z?" Liam asked looking at Zayn
"We're going to the hospital and we're going to visit the doctors and Sophie" Zayn said grabbing his keys and his phone and Liam's phone handing it to him.
"We'll drive separately" Louis said for Harry and him grabbing his own keys and taking Harry's hand.
"Ok, I'll drive with you" Niall said pointing to Zayn. He nodded keeping his arm around Liam as he gave Perrie a kiss on the cheek before walking to his car and opening the door for Liam. Niall got in the back while Zayn got in the driver's seat after closing the door for Liam.
Liam lo][oked out the window the whole car ride while Zayn kept glancing at him worriedly. Niall was on his phone texting someone. Liam looked down at his left hand while they pulled up to the hospital, he played with his wedding ring.
"Hey Li don't do that" Niall frowned patting Liam's shoulder as Zayn was looking for a parking spot
"I can't help it" Liam mumbled turning the ring around his finger
"Well figure everything out don't worry" Niall said rubbing his friend's arm soothingly
"Let's just go" Liam said getting out of the car as Zayn parked
"Liam slow down" Zayn said running to catch up to him grabbing his wrist and turning him around
"I just want to get this over with" Liam said looking down at his feet
"I know Li, we will don't worry. If it gets too bad we'll leave I promise" Zayn said pulling Liam close and giving him a quick hug before pulling back and walking to the entrance with Niall on the other side of Liam. Harry and Louis were behind them, keeping their distance but staying close.
"Hi Mr. Payne, are you here for Sophie?" the front desk lady asked typing something in her computer
"Um yeah, so are my friends here. They're on her emergency contact list" Liam said stepping forward
"Ok" the lady said looking at her computer then the boys "Zayn, Niall, Harry, and Louis?"
"Yep that's us" Zayn smiled
"Ok you guys can go back, the doctors are back there if you have any questions"
"Thank you so much" Harry smiled following the boys back
"Guys I'm scared" Liam said quietly as they walked back
"I know Li, I know" Zayn said quietly back holding his close as they walked
"Ah Mr. Payne welcome back" the male doctor smiled, Liam gave him a small smile back before looking at his shoes
"So um Dr.?" Zayn asked trying to get his name
"Smith"
"Dr. Smith, we have some questions about Sophie's, um, condition. And we were wondering if you could answer them" Zayn said hopeful
"I can absolutely try my best" the doctor nodded putting his clipboard to his side
"Do we know how much she actually remembers?" Zayn asked
"After all the testing and scans we have found out that she has a severe case of amnesia, and has forgotten her whole adult years and only remembers from age sixteen and younger"
"Oh wow" Niall gaped
"Do you know how long it will last?" Zayn asked
"Now that's where it gets a bit iffy, we can't exactly tell with such an extreme case, sometimes even small cases we can't tell. Her memory may be back within a few days or it might be permanently gone"
"Permanently gone?" Liam chocked finally looking up at the doctor in fear
"Sadly there is a possibility of her memory never coming back" Dr. Smith said apologetically
"Oh my god" Liam whispered putting his hands to his mouth and turning to walk away but Louis stopped him wrapping his arms around him and hugging him tightly. Liam wrapped his own arms around Louis and cried into the man's shoulder.
"Can I see her?" Harry asked wanting to see his best friend even if she won't remember
"Yes of course, just beware she won't remember you and trying to force memory on her won't help" Dr. Smith said opening the door
"We'll stay out here" Louis said still holding Liam. Zayn, Niall, and Harry nodded following the doctor inside seeing Sophie watching TV.
"Hi Sophie, you have some guests" Dr. Smith said checking her monitors
"Who are they?" Sophie whispered looking at the boys but talking to the doctor
"Why don't you ask them" the doctor offered giving her shoulder a pat before leaving the room
"I know I have amnesia, but you don't have to look at me like that" Sophie said noticing the sad and sympathetic looks of the boys
"I'm sorry, I just- I just don't know what to do" Harry laughed sadly shrugging
"Why don't you start by telling me your names" Sophie offered tone getting softer as she tried to lighten the mood
"I'm Niall"
"I'm Zayn"
"I'm Harry"
"Well boys how do I know you?" she asked gesturing to the seats next to the bed which they sat in
"Well we are your husband's best friends, and when you guys became a couple you became my best friend" Harry explained
"Is my husband that one cute guy that we here the earlier today?" Sophie asked
"Yeah" Harry chuckled wiping his eyes "Yeah, he's the cute guy"
"I feel bad for not remembering him, he looked really hurt. I feel bad for not remembering anything"
"It's not your fault, you were in an accident" Zayn said frowning slightly
"I know but I just don't like all the hopeful faces that come in and then all the sad faces that leave. It makes me feel sad" she frowned making Harry chuckle lightly
"Well at least you haven't changed that much"
