The three of you did have a few classes together but they were really no help in navigating the castle. In fact, sometimes you swore that they went the wrong way on purpose, feigning ignorance to all your professors who were by now realising the twins were not at all like their brother Percy.
Slumping down at breakfast on your second day, Giddeon swooped down beside you and landed neatly next to your toast, holding his leg out toward you with a small package attached

Dearest Y/N,
I'm so glad you made it in once piece! We were worried you'd fall into the black lake if you messed around too much on the boats. I asked Stan and he said Arthur Weasley works closely with his department, what a small world! From what I've heard about the twins you'll get along finely but that may not be a good thing for the rest of the student body.
We are so proud of you my love, I hope you've had a fantastic start to your new school.
Heather.
P.S I've attached some every flavour beans, Stan wanted to send more but poor Giddeon already has to fly hundreds of miles as it is

Grinning, you pocketed the sweets and turned back to Ruby who was pouring over the Daily Prophet.

The three of you had made more friends and you were now on the second Wednesday of the term and had been at Hogwarts for one week and two days.

You, George and Fred had been looking forward to today as it would be your first flying lessons after lunch. History of Magic, DADA and Charms passed very slowly and very uneventfully. But finally after lunch and four hours of waiting, the class started to assemble on the front lawn.

"Good morning everybody and welcome to your first Flying Lesson, first off, I'm Madam Hooch. Today we will be learning the basics of Flying, not, unfortunately, the rules of Quidditch.  Now if you would all stand to the right of your brooms, put your hand out above it, and say 'UP'."

Everyone was excitedly repeating 'up' to little effect. Some brooms twitched slightly or rolled over but no ones had risen yet.

"Firmly and clearly, flat palms" Madam Hooch was saying as she walked between students, correcting hand placement and stances.

"Up." immediately the broom was clasped in your hand.

"Well done Miss Mumford, excellent!" Madam Hooch congratulated you happily. George gave you an impressed look and you smirked. You weren't the first in the class, but out of the three of you, you'd won.

"Now, swing your leg over the broom hover for a few seconds then touch-down again. On my whistle. Now!"

You hovered for a few seconds then touched the ground again, the rest of the lesson went by in a breeze and everyone was somewhat disappointed when you all had to leave for Transfiguration.
"Y'know," George started, "Most wizarding families have had kids flying since they would walk, why do we need to start off with the basics. And all that nonsense about 'up', I've never bothered."
"Well I've never flown before, not on my own anyway." You said casually,
"Sorry? Never flown before?"
Did a second you'd thought they were joking but both twins stood in genuine surprise.
"Well, uh no. Sometimes I've sat on the front of Stan's broom but we use floo powder and I've held onto Heather while she apperates before."
"How have you never flown? That's mental, I suppose you did pretty well then. For a first timer" Fred said with a smirk
"Did better than you didn't I? And we live in a city, how am I supposed to go flying round on a broomstick and not get seen?"
"She's right Fred, as much as it pains me to say it."
He rolled his eyes and flounder off in faux annoyance much to the amusement of everyone around him, most of whom giggled as he swung his bag dramatically onto the other shoulder.
"I'm not sure we should be following him, I think you two get us lost on purpose so you two get to make a dramatic entrance." You huffed out as you trailed up yet another flight of stairs.
"I'm sure I don't know what you mean, that's a very weighty accusation Miss Munford." George grinned.
"And what's this? Us, being on time to class,"
"Actually we're early so take that." Fred leaned against the door arms folded.

It seemed that before you actually got to do anything fun or magic, basic rules had to be set. As it was your 8th transfiguration lesson you'd assumed McGonagall had finished reciting text books but no, this lesson was purely on ethics and the humanitarian principles within transfiguration.

Dinner and homework dragged by and finally you retired up to your four-poster.
