Bloody hell! You thought, is this much homework really necessary? You were lazily sprawled on one of the sofas in the common room completing, reluctantly, the work most, if not all of, your professors had set. Snape, as always, had given only one night for the four rolls of parchment he had requested. You had already managed to persuade him to give you another day and if it weren't completed by tomorrow, you would be looking at a few detentions. Even though you were in Snape's house, he had already been leniant enough with you and would start to realise you were taking advantage of that.
Whilst you were trying to complete the History of Magic work, Marcus Flint entered the common room, caught sight of you, gave what looked to be a smirk, and stood in the corner beckoning Aidrean Pucy,
"Alright everyone, listen up." He said, the team is holding tryouts for anyone who wants to play this season. They'll be next Tuesday at 4:30pm on the pitch." People immediatly either walked off of started chatting excitedly. Malfoy, however, stepped forward, "Come now do we really need tryouts, Flint? I'm sure that we can come to some agreement with my Father, maybe, new brooms say?" Flint's eyes lit up and an unpleasant, toothy smile cracked his face, "The fee," Malfoy continued, "of course, letting me on the team. As Seeker." You could tell Marcus was torn, but before he could answer, you stood. "What if I want to be on the team?" "You?" Malfoy scoffed. "Why would someone li-" He was abruptly cut off by Flint who was looking you up and down, "What position?" "Beater." Malfoy laughed and walked off shaking his stupid blonde head. "Why would you want to play? Quidditch would mess up your hair wouldn't it?" Ignoring the slightly sexist comment you continued, "I want to play because I'm good." "Then come to tryouts, darling." Flint said smirking and moving closer. You backed off and crossed your arms. "Fine, I will and you had better not let Malfoy on the team. I could get brooms for you and bring some skill as well as just money." With that you stalked off to find the twins. As you left you could faintly hear Pucy telling Marcus: "She's well out of your lead you twat and she's a massive bitch anyway."
