Since George's little episode you'd become more and more distant from Fred too, you could tell that he didn't agree with his twin but usually you couldn't get one without the other. Your conversations grew shorter and less frequent alarmingly fast. You turned to the sound of their voices less and less.
Still fuming with George, you heavily leaned into the stereotype he'd painted you as. Beginning to sneer at people, giggling behind their backs as they walked. Almost none of your fellow house-mates did this, honestly the stereotype was just that; a stereotype.
Ruby and Malfoy were just as, if not more, angry than you, loudly shit talking him and showing off as they walked with you in the halls.
It made you feel better in a backward sort of way, anyone could see it was obviously getting to George. He would tense up and leave, Draco's snide remarks following him down corridors.
You, Ruby and Draco had taken to walking all in a trio, pushing past people in the halls, making sarcastic comments whenever possible.
Your game had gotten better, but not in a good way. You'd began to yell and shout on the pitch, smacking bludgers way too hard towards anyone and anything not in green and silver. You'd been issued several warnings after 'accidentally' getting other players in the face and when their backs were turned, but Slytherin had one more than a two thirds of their games and were maintaining their place at the top of the quidditch table. However, yours and the teams actions meant you were all as unpopular and yet popular as ever. No one really liked you but everyone was always talking about you.
Your whole image had changed, you and the twins used to poke fun at the preppy students, their shirts tucked in, their ties knotted and straight but now you couldn't look more similar to them. Rather than the untucked shirt and lose tie, your hair lay smooth against your ironed robes, tie pin straight and neat. Your skirt was short and your socks pulled up to your knees with your shoes polished. Even these small changes you knew annoyed George, he'd always liked that you didn't care, that you were relaxed enough not to take yourself too seriously. And all you wanted to do was get to him. Annoy him in any way possible.
You sat in classes, lounged over the seat quill in mouth with the most judgemental, bored expression you could muster. Staring at George then rolling your eyes and looking away when he made eye contact. Snape had taken a shine to you recently, as you begun to sneer along at his condescending remarks, sitting back and passing the class without lifting a finger.
The second weekend after George's tantrum, you were on the way out of the castle to Hogsmeade, your arm linked with Ruby's, Draco walking alongside. The three off you turned round the corner onto the path and slammed into a small group coming in the opposite direction.
A large pit formed in your throat and you clamped onto Ruby's arm even tighter. George was knocked to the ground in the collision and Malfoy immediately laughed, you joined a split second later, shrieking loudly. Fred and Angelina helped George up, staring daggers at the three of you. Malfoy was doubled down and Ruby was clinging onto you they were laughing so hard.
"You should look where you're going Weasley." you sneered, the use of his surname was clearly a low blow.
"Yeah watch out, Freckleface!" Ruby laughed.
Neither twin or Angelina replied. Walking quickly back into the castle courtyard, eyes down. Draco took your arm and the three of you continued walking down the hill.
By the time you'd gotten into Hogsmeade, Draco had mimicked George's fall a thousand times, each time making it more dramatic and apparently more hilarious. But the more you laughed the more guilty you felt. You had found another group of Slytherins in the Three Broomsticks, they'd claimed a corner of tables and chairs which you joined them on. Ruby and Draco insisted you help them recreate the whole scene from earlier and it was met with over the top laughter. You joined in, adding how pathetic he looked when he didn't reply. Every word you said was another punch to your gut.
