Your nose had finally healed and the gorgeous raccoon bruising round your eyes was gone with only a slight yellow-green tinge to the inner corners of your eyes to indicate anything had been wrong. Madam Pomfrey had put your nose back to how it was exactly but it did still give the odd click when you sneezed too hard or rubbed your it, much to the annoyance of Malfoy who cringed and scrunched his face up at the sound.
Christmas was becoming closer, but at a slight jog rather than a run and the holidays seemed to stretch further and further away by the day. A chill was constantly hitting the back of your knees below your skirt and behind your neck, though an early gift from Heather had sorted one of those issues out. She had knitted a thick, grey, wolly scarf which you wore religiously in the freezing common room. The common room was luxurious and elegant but marble and below the lake meaning when it was cold, there was no heating it up. You took to huddling with Malfoy and Ruby to stop yourself from freezing. You all had attempted multiple times to conjure a small blue fire in your hands but try as the two of you did, only the occasional sad blue spark came out unlike Flitwicks jolly, warm blaze.
One particularly icy double potions lesson, you asked to go to the bathroom to escape the antarctic conditions of Snape's glare and his chilly classroom, he had the class copying notes as a Hufflepuff had managed to get toad brains on the ceiling. This meant there was not even any cauldron heat to pretend was warming you up.
You jogged along in an effort to keep your circulation going and walked aimlessly round the halls watching your breath spiral out in front of you. Turning a corner you heard familiar laughter and saw Peevs at the end of the corridor throwing rock hard snowballs at someone. You stopped and turned quickly but it was way too late;
"OOOOOH MISS MUNFORD skipping class are we? I have to say i am extremely disappointed!" Peeves cackled,
"OI Weasley one! Weasley two! and look who's skipping potions!" Cursing under your breath you walked toward Peeves, you had been planning to go back to potions eventually but if the twins really were here, then there was no chance. You'd have more luck making Snape tapdance whitest giving every Gryffindor 50 points than there was a chance of you giving up time with George and Fred.
The two boys came hurtling around the corner red in the face as well as the hair; shit, what were they running from, whatever it was you should probably run from it as well.
"Filtch.....so angry...." George could hardly get his words out,
"so, we've never run away from him before?" you replied,
"no...he's so gross.... flu....really runny nose....disgusting....absolutely..." Fred breathed as he clutched a stitch in his side.
You laughed out loud then caught sight of Filtch, Peeves pulled a face and shot off. Even Mrs Norris was keeping her distance from her beloved; his nose looked as if it belonged to a long gone corpse with the Plague, not a caretaker with flu. The tip of his nose was deep purple in stark contrast to his white face but an exact match to his hollow eyes.
Genuinely a little scared you ran too, your scarf flying behind you like a cape.
"Upstairs!" George yelled,
"He won't make it up to the top floor
like that!"
"I'm not going to make it up stairs!" retorted Fred, still out of breath, he continued down the corridor but you decided to go after George, sprinting up the main staircase.
You hadn't been looking where he was going to but rather concentrating on not passing out. The sharp air and sudden run had been an unwelcome and unfortunate pair of circumstances and you'd become short of breath a lot faster than usual, luckily, George was finally slowing down.
He lent against a heavy door, bending over, hands on his knees,
"Merlin, I think i could actually have a heart attack."
You tried to laugh but it came out strained and as another gasp for air, George tapped the door lightly with his wand.
"After you." he said straightening up.
