After briefing Zack on the plan, the two of us walk through the door at the end of the hall only to see the others have found and freed Mel and Derek. They're all standing in the hallway outside of an open cell door but just beyond them, instead of another door there is a brick wall, indicating the end of the prisons.
By the time Zack and I get there, they are already explaining the situation and how Ryan ended up freeing us all from our prisons. We walk in to Jacky saying, "—and once we freed Zack and Sophia again we came here."
Derek has the ghost of a black eye on his face and I can't tell if it's from the ambush or from a possible interrogation he was put through. Derek catches my eye and curiously asks, "What happened to you?"
Everyone turns to me, noticing my broken nose and waits for my response. "Bad interrogation," I say shrugging, "or, I suppose it would be a good interrogation considering this is my reward for not saying anything."
The side of Derek's mouth turns up as he nods, "mine too," he says, pointing to his eye.
"Guys I would love to catch up after all that's happened, but we really gotta go," Jacky says nervously.
"Well, what are we going to do? They've got to discover us missing soon if they already haven't, and we still need to find a way out and back to Cadwell," Mel says, crossing her arms over her chest.
Ryan, who has been standing quietly by Derek, perks up at Mel words. Seriously he says, "Oh, we're not leaving yet. We came here to get Mr. Mann and Agent Red, and we're not leaving without them."
I can't help the shocked expression that takes over my face, is he serious? The mole seems to have everything figured out. If he thinks Kim, Zack and I are going to just let him lead us all to our death then he is incredibly mistaken. He won't even see it coming.
It seems that some of the others feel the same way, because I'm snapped out of my thoughts by Jade's voice. "You can't be serious," she deadpans.
He only spares a glance at Jade before he continues his explanation, "Guys, we are the last known CSIS agents that can get this done! We're in the heart of enemy territory, they don't know we're free and Mr. Mann and Agent Red are still here. There is no way I'm leaving without them again."
"And what do you suggest we do, Volant? They don't know we're free now but who knows how long your trick with the camera's will last and not to mention all the empty cells. It's not like we can just walk around here," I say while trying to contain my anger.
Ryan looks over to me, shock at my outburst clear on his face, and if I'm not mistaken, there's a little hurt that he's trying to burry. "We have to do something, Erin. If we just leave now we'll have to organize everything again, find a way in and do all the preparations but it'll be so much harder because that's exactly what they're expecting us to do. And if we were to do all of that successfully, by the time we carried it out it'd be too late."
Noticing my change in mood, Zack subtly taps me on the hand in the hopes of reminding me of our plan. I can't blow it, even if Volant does deserve it for everything he's done. I sigh, putting on the façade that I've submitted to his plan, and no one can tell the difference. "I hope you are all aware that we each only have one gun," I pause, stressfully rubbing my forehead and preparing myself for my next words. Quickly and painfully, I bite out, "but you're right. Our only chance to take care of this right now."
Volant smiles, falling for my mask and thinking he's won. "But our lack of weapons isn't a disadvantage, Erin. Hopefully, if I'm right, Hecate will underestimate us thinking we are unarmed. Yes, we were trained with guns, but that's not a necessity to win. Hand to hand combat is the only thing a team like you needs, as long as you are using your skills there is no way Hecate can win."
