Chapter 14

Evan's Pov.

I got home a little while after we had watched a movie that night. 

It was perfect, his parents were out on a date, trying to reconnect I guess.

We watched the Last Song and he told me he wanted to have a love like the main characters. 

He cried when the girls dad died and I held him in my arms.

I was glad we were together now, I didn't feel sad or ashamed to be gay anymore.

Xavier helped me feel a bit better about my sexuality. 

I was in my new room when my mother came in.

"Honey, you start your new school tomorrow morning. Could you be a dear and take Stuart to school too please?" She shied away from me.

My mother had become more timid and quiet since me and Stuart had moved into the house.

I felt like since dad was gone she'd been better.

"Sure. Hey mom?" I asked.

"Yes honey." She leaned in my bedroom doorway and crossed her arms lightly.

"You seem... different. Happier. Are you mom?" I asked her casually and stood up.

I was taller than her, she was short like Xavier.

"I am. I'm sorry for a lot of the things I did to you and Stuart." She gulped and looked at her feet.

"Will you forgive me? I feel so ashamed to be called your mother..." She trailed off looking out my window.

I pursed my lips and placed my hands on my hips pondering.

"You are my mother. You shouldn't be ashamed about me calling you my mother. It'll take some time but i'll try to forgive you. But you have to be here for us. We need your guidance." I explained to her.

She nodded.

"I understand. I'll be in the kitchen if you need anything dear." She smiled slightly and walked out of my room closing the door behind her.

I put my head in my hands and felt a bit relived. 

At least our mother was coming to her senses. 

I hoped this wasn't for a short amount of time, I need her in my life right now.

And I think she needs me and Stuart at the moment too.

Xavier's Pov.

I waited outside of my house on the porch for my dad or step mom to come home.

I'd left my keys inside by accident. 

I was in a bit of a rush this morning.

A car pulled into the drive way and a girl stepped out.

She turned and I saw that it was Alex.

I sat up on the bench and watched her walk over to me.

"Xavier." She said quietly.

She had fresh bruises all over her.

"Alex, please. Why are you here?" I asked her sounding sympathetic.

She sighed in sadness and took a seat beside me on the bench.

She put her head in her hands.

"I'm so sorry about that day. I feel like shit about it. It's just that I liked you. You were different from other boys. But when you said you were gay I over reacted and shunned you. But, I didn't realize what i'd done." She cried out and wiped tears from her eyes, trying not to cry.
