And I remember the fear in your eyes

The very first time we snuck into the city pool

Late December with my heart in my chest and the clouds of my breath

Didn't know where we were running to

But don't look back

Michael lowered the volume on his stereo once he heard deep shouts erupting. The voices were quite clear considering they were coming from next door, granted Michael did have his window open. He attempted to listen in on the argument, gradually getting louder.

"It's not my fault!"

"Yes it is, dammit Lucas! Why-why can't you just grow up and accept that not everyone's going to like you" an unfamiliar voice echoed through out.

"Thats not the problem, its that no one likes me! I'm always so fucking alone" Luke replied well Michael guessed it was Luke.

"Don't you dare speak to me that way, I am your father you sure as hell better treat me like it!"

"Oh please" the blonde scoffed. "You aren't my father, you re-married my mother."

"I raised you!" The mans voice shouted with a prominent tone.

"No-no you didn't.. You show up maybe once a week, you aren't my father, you have no right to say you are!" Luke replied, his voice stern and laced with fury.

"Get out of here and learn some respect, Lucas. I don't want to see you."

"For a man who 'raised' me you sure don't don't my name" the blonde sniggered.

"Get out!" Luke's step father shouted.

Michael jumped, startled by the slam of Luke's bedroom door. He could hear Luke mumbling incoherent words under his lips. Michael snapped his head towards the note book he was currently writing in, acting as if he hadn't heard a single word. He contemplated whether or not he should go see if Luke was ok, maybe even comfort him if need be. Although he decided against it. That's until he noticed the blonde hoist himself onto his roof.

Luke let out an a deep sigh, rubbing his eyes in tired manner. Not tired in the of lack of sleep, just exhausted of arguments and constant bickering. Luke didn't really have much fun in his life, sure he did go out but not as often as the usual teenager. Although he had grown attached to his room, finding it his safe haven.

"Luke" a soft, familiar voice rang through the blondes ears. He shot his head up, seeing Michael sat across from his roof top a backpack slung over his shoulders.

"Oh hey, Michael."

"W-wanna go on an adventure?" The coloured haired lad questioned, his eyes lit with excitement.

"What kind of adventure?" Luke asked apprehensively.

"Now, now, no adventure is fun if you know whats going to happen" the red head replied, pulling his bottom lip between his teeth. "So you coming?"

Luke hesitantly looked back into his room, knowing his mother would be furious if he left at almost eleven at night. Although life was about taking chances, right? "Yeah i'm coming" the blonde confirmed with a nod of his head.

After Luke had learnt that Michael kept a ladder against his rooftop, for easy access to escape they began their adventure. The two teenagers walked along the road, their eyes shooting around the neighbourhood in excitement. Michael watched Luke fondly, the boy seemed so giddish he guessed the small blonde had never snuck out before. Michael on the other hand was more then experienced with it.
