I groaned, my head felt like an elephant had been stamping and pounding on it. I tried to open my eyes but my eyelids seemed to be glued together, I ran my tongue over my bottom lip, feeling a small bump in it. After a while, I managed to open my eyes, only to reveal a sterile, white room. I carefully tried to move my arms, only managing to move the tips of my fingers. My whole body felt numb, as if I had been in ice water for days.

"Oh, you're awake!" A voice spoke up from the other side of the room. I slowly turned my head in the direction the sound had came from, noticing a friendly looking girl sitting in one of the white chairs. Everything seemed to be white in the room I was in. She slowly got up and walked towards me, placing a hand on my arm. "How are you feeling?" She asked me, sounding concerned.

She was beautiful really, she had long, light brown hair that was tied back in a ponytail. Her eyes were a dark brown and she had high cheekbones, making her face stand out. She had a friendly face, a face that was laced with concern and guilt, almost, as she looked at me. She looked like she was the same age as me.

"I-I.. W-what.." I tried to speak but my voice wouldn't cooperate. It was shaky and it came out hoarse, as if my vocal cords had just turned in to sand paper. Suddenly, I heard the sound of a door opening and another female walked in, she looked to be in her mid fifties.

"Oh, dear. You're awake! you took quite the hit. How are you feeling? Do you remember anything?" She asked me, moving to the other side of the bed while adjusting some of the machines that I was attached to. "W-where am I-I..? I managed to say loud enough for them to hear. "You're in the hospital, dear. You have been a sleep. You're quite the heavy sleeper, if I may say so." She smiled kindly at me and turned to face me again.

I was in the hospital? She said I took a hit, what kind of hit? What had happened? Was this why my body was feeling so sore? I tried to remember what happened, but the more I tried to think of it, the more my headache increased.

"Do you remember anything? Can you tell me your name?" She asked me, sitting down on the chair that was placed next to the bed, her face now starting to grow a bit worried. The other girl who I didn't recognize, who I was absolutely sure that I didn't know, sat down on one of the chairs on the other side of the bed that I was currently laying in.

My name? Did I even have a name, I didn't know. It was on the tip of my tongue but I just couldn't push it forward until it suddenly came back, a small wave of pain shot through my chest as I spoke again. "R-Riley.. Riley C-Clark." I whispered. The nurse, at least, I thought she was a nurse, quickly scribbled down something on the clipboard that was attached to the side of the bed.

"That's good, go get some rest, honey." She replied, standing up and putting her pen back in one of the small pockets in her shirt.

"H-how long.. How l-long have I-I been h-here..?" I asked the woman, my voice slowly starting to regain it's strength. The nurse turned around but before she could speak up, the mystery girl that had been sitting beside my bed answered me.

"For almost three weeks."

--------------------

I was sat up straight, a few pillows behind my back as I carefully sipped water through a small, black straw. No one else beside the girl who was here yesterday had shown up, no family, no friends, nobody. Maybe I didn't have a family or friends? I don't remember. It was tiring really, to try to bring back memories that seem to have vanished completely. It was like trying to pull open a door that was locked. Speaking of doors, I lowered the cup of water from my mouth as the door to the room I was in opened, revealing the same brown haired girl that was here yesterday. She smiled at me and entered the room, closing the door behind her. "Hi, Riley! How are you feeling today?" She asked me, setting her bag down on the ground and taking off her jacket.

"I'm okay." I replied, my voice was almost completely back to normal by now. It didn't sound as hoarse as it did yesterday. I still didn't have a clue on who this girl was and why she had been here so many times. Was she a relative? A friend, maybe?

"Who are you?" I asked her as she sat down on one of the white chairs, next to my bed while pulling her hair up in a high ponytail, just like she wore it yesterday. "I'm Rose, if you can't remember me, you're right. We've never met." She smiled, putting her hands down in her lap, a guilty look on her face.

"Then why are you here?" I responded to her, still feeling a little creeped out by all of this. I was laying in a hospital bed, hooked to machines and being told that I have been for the past three weeks. I think it was justified to feel creeped out.

"Because I was the one who caused all this." She whispered, moving her gaze to the floor, not daring to look me in the eyes. "What do you mean?" I asked her, my headache slowly increasing with every question I asked her.

"It was almost dark outside when I was driving home from work, it was raining too which made it very hard to see through the windshield. I didn't see you there, I promise! It was an accident, you were just there all of the sudden, in the middle of the street. I yanked at my steering wheel but it wouldn't budge, not enough to avoid you. I'm so sorry, I didn't do it on purpose, it was a mistake." She told me as the tears streamed down her face, she still wouldn't dare to look up at me.

So I was hit by a car? The girl who said her name was Rose, who was currently sobbing beside my bed right now, had ran me over with her car? There were so many questions and only a few answers, it was almost too much for my brain to progress.

"It's okay, you didn't do it on purpose." I spoke as she finally raised her head again, when she actually dared to look at me, I continued. "You were here all the time? While I was a sleep?" I asked her, absolutely feeling no anger towards this girl, she was telling the truth, I could feel it. It was an accident and it had already happened so there was no need to hold a grudge against her.

"Yeah, I was so worried, you just refused to wake up. The doctors wouldn't let me see you at first but when nobody else came to see you, they let me in." She smiled at me, a sad smile though.

"Nobody came to see me?" So it was true, I really had no family or friends?

"No, I was the only one here over the past three weeks. I talked to you a lot, you know. Sometimes your lips would twitch up in a small smile but other than that, you didn't give any signs of life. You were close to going in a coma, you really can't remember anything besides your name?"

A come? I had been close to going in to a coma? I didn't realise it had been so serious, I think I was still trying to progress anything. It didn't feel good to not remember a thing about your past life, but it gave some sort of calmness as well. I didn't have anything to worry about, for now. "No, I can't remember anything." I replied, moving the small cup of water back to my mouth and taking a few larger sips, without the straw this time.

"The doctors said that your memory will come back eventually, they don't know when, though. They said it could be a matter of days, weeks or even months. Do you remember where you live? Maybe I could get you something from your house, it could bring back some of your memory."

My eyelids started to grow tired as she told me this, no, I didn't remember where I live. I didn't remember anything besides my name.

"I don't know, sorry." I replied before closing my eyes, drifting off in to a peaceful sleep.

A/n: Riley has lost her memory! Thoughts on that one? Do you think she will get it back? Will she remember Niall?

I'm so excited to continue this story, I can't believe I've already written 20 chapters, times flies when you have a crazy mind I guess. Ha.
