A/n: Check out the amazing cover made by xhemmingshugsx I'm absolutely in love with it.

To those who thought Harry was the killer, shame on you all. Our little ray of sunshine would never kill someone. Jk, I love you all. I know I'm updating a lot recently but that's just because this story has taken over my mind and I need to write it down to be able to focus on other things. I can't believe it almost has 3k reads, I'm not sure if Deranged will ever become really popular but if it does, I will remember you all.

My feet moved along to the beat of the music that was playing through my earphones. I always loved to listen to music, it seemed to calm me down and take me away from everything. I had totally forgotten about my old, beat up IPod but yesterday evening, while I was unpacking a small bag that I had found in my large suitcase, I had found it again. I smiled to myself as The Fray started playing while I made my way to work, walking of course. I didn't have time to get a new car yet. It was about a twenty minute walk but that gave me the time to get my mind off things.

After about ten minutes of me silently walking alongside of the road, the big, neon letters of the restaurant that I worked at came in to view and I quickened my pace. I pushed open the small door and stepped inside, taking off my coat and holding it in my hands. Immediately, Charles walked up to me, my boss. "Riley! How are you doing? Feeling better? I heard about what happened, I'm so sorry that you had to go through all that. I'm glad they arrested him, at least now we know that we're all safe." He spoke in a soft tone, not wanting anyone else to hear it, I suppose. So he already knew about what had happened the other day? News travels fast in this town, I called in sick yesterday, obviously, maybe that's how he found out.

"Harry didn't do it, Charles. He's innocent." I replied, annoyed that he would be so quick to assume that Harry did it, he's worked here for a long time, wouldn't Charles know what he's like by now? I know I doubted Harry in the beginning as well, but that soon changed. I was overwhelmed by what had happened and wanted someone to blame, I wanted to feel safe again and the only way to feel safe was for the police to catch the person who was behind all this. I'm glad Niall made me realise what I already knew, Harry was innocent and I needed to prove it, by catching the real culprit.

"Of course he was the one to do it, he was arrested at the scene, you were there! Isn't it obvious? He always had some sort of vibe around him, I think you're the only one who he has really been kind to, Riley." He looked at the small watch around his wrist before looking up at me again. "Alright, enough talking, you should get to work, I expect it to be a busy day today!" He waved me off before walking away himself, back to his office.

I sighed, knowing that I would get more reactions like this from people who didn't know what was going on. They didn't know what was going on with me and how connected I really was to this murder. The person who's behind all this obviously did it to get my attention, I wasn't looking for him like he asked me to do and he wanted to make sure I hadn't forgotten about him. Little did he or she know that it was the only thing on my mind lately. Well, besides Niall. He was slowly making his way in to my mind as well. When he kissed me the other day, I felt something. I felt something I wasn't supposed to feel. Even though it wasn't a real kiss, just a kiss that barely touched my lips, I still felt something. I wasn't sure if I was ready to find out what that feeling that I had felt meant. What if after all this, if we find out who killed him, his parents and now Ethan, he is taken away from me? What if whatever greater force there is out there, claims him? Like it should've done years ago, along with his parents. If I was to develop feelings for a boy who had been dead for years, the consequences would be too big for me to handle and I couldn't take it to have my heart ripped out again.
