Riley's P.O.V.
The two days were I had to remain in the hospital had passed, Harry not leaving me alone for more than a minute, this actually gave Rose the chance to leave every now and then. I had told her multiple times that she didn't need to be with me every day but she insisted, I guess she just felt guilty for putting me in her even though I have told her more than once that I don't care. I forgave her and besides, she didn't even do it on purpose. But now that Harry was here, she felt more comfortable and she left for a few hours every now and then. I don't think they want me to notice the flirty winks they give each other or the permanent smirk that is etched to Harry's face when he's looking at Rose, but I did notice and I was secretly hoping they'd end up together somehow.
Rose had left about five minutes ago because she had to take over a shift of one of her colleagues but she promised to come visit me tomorrow, when I was back in my own house, or Niall's house to be precise. I had no idea if Harry went looking for me immediately after he was released or if he went to the house first and he met Niall. It could be a huge risk for me to involve him in to this situation but I didn't really have a choice. He was scrolling around on his phone, his face down and a few loose strings of his hair fell over his eyes, hiding them from me. "Harry?" Our eyes met as I said his name, his head moving up to meet my gaze. "Yeah?" He replied while putting his phone back in the pocket of his jeans. Talking about his jeans, he really needs to stop wearing those extremely tight ones, I fear for his future children.
I bit my lip to hold back to stupid giggle that threatened to escape as he raised his eyebrows at my probably idiotic expression. "What?" He smirked as he leaned back on his chair, crossing his arms over his chest. "Nothing, I wanted to ask you something important." I pulled my knees up to my chest under the duvet, wrapping my arms around them and taking a deep breath. If Harry didn't go to my house first and Niall didn't show himself, I would be making a complete fool out of myself right now. But if he did, maybe he could help Niall and I in our quest to find a deranged serial killer.
"Just spit it out, Riles." Harry spoke up after me being silent for several minutes, so I did. "Did you go to my house?" I replied while biting my lip, looking down and playing with my fingers nervously.
Harry was silent for a while and I didn't dare to look up, praying to god that he did. I know it was selfish of me to hope that he did know about Niall so that I could ask for his help. I just wanted a living person to know about everything that had been going on, sometimes it felt like I was going crazy. I mean what if Niall was just a fidget of my imagination, what if he wasn't real? I know it was stupid of me to think so because I've seen him, talked to him and even touched him but with everything that was going on I don't think it was strange for a person to go a little insane. When Harry finally broke the dreading silence, I couldn't be happier.
"You know, it was a bit weird to see him after such a long time." A huge grin broke out on my face as I looked him in the eye, a small smile on his lips as well. "You saw him?" A single tear slipped out of my eye but for once it wasn't because I was sad, these were happy tears. Harry just nodded and I leaned back against the pillows, closing my eyes as my thoughts drifted to Niall.
Later that day
Harry helped me getting dressed, keeping his eyes closed the entire time which made us both laugh every now and then. Once I had my own clothes back on, I told Harry he could open his eyes as I carefully walked back to the hospital bed I had slept in for the past four and a half weeks. I was wearing the same clothes I was wearing the night Rose hit me with her car, which felt a tad strange. It was almost like no time had passed.
"You ready to go?" Harry asked me, holding out his hand to help me off the bed which I took. Once I was standing on my own two feet, I stretched my arms and nodded, following him out of the room. My ribs had completely healed, just like my face. The only thing that was still there as proof to what had happened were the scars. The long one that marked my face had faded but if you took a closer look, you could still see it. The scar on my back had a more sinister look though, I was glad my clothes hid them. The doctors had stitched it but it didn't heal as good as the one on my face. I guess I had to be happy that I was still alive but some of these scars couldn't be hidden in contrast to emotional scars.
After I signed myself out of the hospital, Harry and I walked out of the building and towards his SUV. I took one last look at the building before biting my lip and raising my hand up high, sticking out my middle finger towards the hospital. I could hear Harry roar with laughter from inside the car as I lowered my hand and opened the door, getting inside. "Such a rebel." He mocked as I chuckled and stared out the window while he started the car and took off.
Twenty minutes later, Harry turned into my driveway and stopped in front of my house. He took his keys and turned to me, smiling. "Ready?" He asked as I nodded, suddenly feeling nervous. "Can you give me a few minutes?" I looked up at the house, trying to see if I could spot Niall looking out of one of the windows but I saw nothing. "Sure, I'll wait here." He replied as he leaned in and kissed my cheek. I gave him one last glace before I opened the car door and carefully got out, shutting the door behind me. My body may have healed but it still felt a bit sore when I made certain movements. I slowly walked up the steps of the porch and when I reached the front door, I stopped. I don't know why I felt so nervous, maybe it was the thought of Niall thinking I ran out on him when it got too hard, which was obviously not the case. After a few seconds of me trying to calm myself down, I took a deep breath and put the key in the lock, turning it and opening the door.
The house was awfully quiet and it looked like a hurricane had raged inside of it. I closed the door behind me and turned back around when out of nowhere, a solid body crashed into mine. The person wrapped their arms around me and burried their face in the crook of my neck. When I noticed his familiar blonde hair, I wrapped my arms around his neck and allowed the tears to fall. Niall held me close to him, as if he was scared of letting go as I almost choked him with the strong hold my arms had around his neck. I don't know how long we had been standing there, just holding on to one another but when Niall raised his head and our eyes met, even more tears fell. If he could cry, I'm sure he would've too but he couldn't. Niall cupped my cheeks with his hands and used his thumbs to gently wipe away my tears. I don't know what this thing we had was and how it happened so quickly but what I did know was that I never wanted to be without Niall again.
When he leaned in and his lips touched mine, all was okay.
