Genevieve
From my hips down, I feel like it's on fire. My body is drenched in sweat I wring my body around on the hospital bed. I moan and pant in pain and grab onto the sheets. I'm gonna faint from the pain, but I've been thinking that for the past 9 hours and it hasn't happened.

My mother-in-law, April, holds onto my hand.

"You're okay, honey." She says.

"I feel like my insides are being ripped out!" I cry," Where's Trey already? He's taking too long!"

"Relax. He just left. Just breath."

I groan in frustration.

"I need to get up and walk or something." I tell April.

"Alright. Let me help you up." She says.

She helps me out of the bed, and I put on my slippers. Trey walks in as I manage to get over to window sill. In his hand is a water bottle and cup of ice.

I glower at him.

"Took you long enough. I'm over here having your 4th child and that's when you decide to ditch me for a long time." I snarl while staring at him.

He sighs and shakes his head.

"There was a little traffic in the hallway. Here's your ice." He says while walking over to me.

"Get that shxt out of my face! I don't want it anymore." I say while shooing my hand at him.

"Really, Genevieve?" He says while setting the cup and water bottle down.

"Yes, really."

I scream out in pain as another contraction takes action. Tears run down my eyes as I grip the window sill. Trey comes over and deeply massages my lower back to lessen the pain. It's one of the techniques we learned in the birthing class two months back. It helps only a little. After a minute, the contraction passes.

"I'm so hot." I complain while leaning against Trey.

"You wanna take off the robe?" He asks,"You'll be butt naked."

At this point, I don't give a dang.

"I don't care." I reply.

I raise my arms to allow Trey to remove the robe. After doing so, Trey quickly closes the blinds. The amounts of fùcks I give right now is nonexistent.

"This baby is making you do things you'd never do." Trey jokes.

I laugh tiredly.

"The birthing ball." Is all I say.

Trey brings the ball over and helps me get on. Just like that another contraction comes. I whimper and groan in pain. This is gonna be a long day.

-------------
5 hours later
After hours of torturous contractions and support from both my mother in law and Trey, it's finally time to push. I decided on pushing in the squatting position because I know it will be easier to push the baby out.

I have Trey on one side and my mother and law on the other. The midwife is right below me while the nurses rush back in forth. I almost lose control once I start pushing. The pain was excruciating, but everyone kept telling me to calm down.

"I know it hurts, Gee. I did it three times." April says.

I moan out loud in response.

"Come on now, Genevieve. Push!" The midwife coaxes.

I let out a loud grunt and push. I swear my body is being ripped in half. More tears run down my face.

"You're doing good, baby." Trey says.

After about 20 minutes, the head emerges. I guess I get some sort of relief. Trey looks down to get a glimpse at his daughter.

"You can touch her head if you want." The midwife says to Trey.

Trey reaches his hand under with a finger and touches his daughter for the first time. Trey looks at me with a smile. I give him a tired smile.

"Let's keep it going." The midwife encourages.

Another contraction comes and I push on instinct.

"I want her out!" I cry in pain.

For another 20 minutes, I work to push the rest of the baby out. The baby finally slides out of my body and I let out a

"Thank you Jesus!"

Trey cuts the cord, and I can't help but notice the look of joy on his face as he does it. The nurses help me to my bed so I can finally hold her. They lay her tiny on my bare chest and I finally burst out in tears.

She finally lets out a cry and I laugh tears of joy. Trey smooths my hair back and kisses my forehead. A couple tears run down his face. Despite how tore up I look right now, Trey doesn't care. The nurses take her a couple minutes later to get her cleaned up and such.

April takes my hand and squeezes it.

"You did so good. Now you're a mother to 4 kids." April says,"And I've got 5 grand kids. Keep them coming."

Trey and I laugh. Not anytime soon.

"I think we're good, ma." Trey says.

They bring her back and hand her over to me. I finally get to get a good look at her. She looks a lot like me but has Trey's lips and eyebrows. She has a head full of curly black hair.

"Looks just like her mommy." Trey says while looking down at his newborn daughter's face.

"It's my turn." He says.

He carefully picks her up and kisses her forehead.

"You were born into the right family, baby girl. Mommy and daddy love you, and you have two grandmas and two grandpas who love you. Your older brothers and sister. Aunties. Uncles. A lot of love, baby girl."
