Genevieve
I look at Trey with complete love and admiration.

"I'm next." April says.

"Excuse me, but do you have a name yet?" A nurse comes to ask holding a book with a pen.

Trey and I look at each other. We've talked about names, but we haven't been able to agree on one.

"Not yet." I reply for the both of us.

"Whenever you're ready." She says and leaves us to give us some privacy.

Trey reluctantly hands her over to his mom. I watch as Trey sends out texts to our friends and family members about the birth. My mom would've loved to be here, but she has certain duties in Haiti.

Trey catches me off guard by kissing my lips. I push him away in disgust of myself. I'm sweaty and I probably stink.

"I need to shower and brush my teeth." I tell him.

He smells me and makes a face.

"You right." He says.

I swat his face but he moves away just in time.

"Let's get you into the shower." Trey says.

"I'll watch her." April says.

She goes off to the couch on the corner with our daughter. Trey helps me up, and supports my unstable body. My legs are weak from labor and pushing.

Trey
The hospital shower is so small that I can't really help Gee, but she's okay on her own.

"I'll wait for you out in the room." I tell her,"Yell for me if you need me."

"Okay!" She replies.

I walk over to wear my mother holds my daughter. She looks up at me with fondness.

"She opened her eyes for a couple seconds then closed them. You missed it." She tells me.

"It's too bright in here for her."

I crouch down to touch her small hand. She looks so much like Gee it's crazy. She has my mouth though. My phone vibrates a few times. I check to see a couple messages of congratulations from friends and Chris and August saying that they're coming through soon.

Gee walks out of the bathroom looking refreshed and more together then before. She smiles at us before hopping into her bed.

"Can I hold her now?" She asks.

My mom passes my daughter to me to give to Gee.

"She needs a name, Genevieve." I say.

"I know." She replies.

I give her the baby and watch at how she looks at her. Four miscarriages until we got her.

"You check up on how Tracie is holding up with the kids?" She asks.

"Yeah. They're fine. I'll pick them up later to bring them here."

"How about Jaylyn?" I suggest.

She shakes her head.

"She doesn't look like a Jaylyn......" Gee replies.

My mom comes over to the bed and suggests that Genevieve feeds the baby.

Genevieve
As my baby nurses at my breast, Trey and I try to think of a name.

"How about Evelyn? Or Everly?" I suggest.

I'm kinda feeling those names.

"Evelyn is pretty. What do you think ma?" Trey asks.

"It's nice."

"But, I'm choosing the middle name." Trey butts in.

"Okay. What name?" I ask.

"Loreal. Like the makeup line except without the apostrophe." He says.

I actually like it.

"Yes. I love it." Genevieve says.

I look down at my baby who's eyes were closed as she suckled at my breast.

"Evelyn Loreal Neverson." I state and then smile.

She opens her eyes and looks right into mine. A beautiful chocolate brown.

One hour later
August, Nicki, Chris, and Audree come through to visit. Nicki and Audree squeal at the sight of Evelyn.

"She's perfect." Audree says while kissing Evelyn's forehead.

"Well, she is my seed." Trey says.

We all laugh. Trey is so full of himself.

"Damn! Ya'll have four kids now. All under the age of five." Chris says.

"I know. God really answered our prayers. Speaking of the kids, they should be coming soon to visit their little sister."

"Damien and Evelyn are like 9 months apart. That's cute." Nicki says.

"It's not cute when Evelyn's crying also wakes up Damien." I say.

They pass Evelyn around until everyone gets the chance of holding her.

"Nicki, you're next." Audree says while we talk about babies.

"Royalty seems to be enough." Nicki says.

"Just one more though. You should experience pregnancy and birth. It changes you." I say.

Raising kids in general changes you.
