Cut in Half

Chapter 2

Eric could tell that the bus stopped rolling because a lot of people were laying on top of him. Some kids were groaning. Some kids were crying. Eric had to get these people off of him. He pushed through the people, trying to get to the top. Finally he did. Suddenly his focus went to Luke. He gasped. " Luke!" No answer.

The back door opened and sunlight shined on them. People stepped through the doorway. Little kids started screaming "HELP! OVER HERE!"

Then the whole bus started to smell like smoke. One of the people at the door said, " We gotta get these kids out of here! NOW!" They started to take kids out of the bus. Then he could here ambulance and firetruck sirens wailing, coming towards their direction. Then people started pulling children out.

Eric looked around the bus. Something caught his eye at the bus driver's seat. He stepped over seats and kids that were waiting to be pulled out of the bus. When Eric arrived at the bus drivers seat, He saw that the bus driver lay limp less. Eric covered his mouth to hide his scream. " Oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh," he said rapidly. " Help!" He called to the people taking the kids out.

One person came over and looked at what Eric was pointing at. " My God." He said. "We need a medic here NOW!" He yelled. Eric looked over and saw that the ambulance and firetrucks had arrived. The doors of the ambulance opened and medics came out, rushing towards the bus. The person that had come to Eric rushed to the medics and yelled for them to come.

The medics stepped over the remaining children, and came to Eric and the man. The medic looked at understood what the problem was. letting them handle the problem, Eric started looking for Luke.

There were only a few children left. some of them looked like they were unconscious and some, he wasn't too sure. But none of them were Luke. Eric looked and looked for Luke. Until, finally, He found Luke. He was under a seat that looked like had fallen on him. "LUKE!" Eric called. He rushed over to Luke. "Luke." He said. No answer. Eric shook Luke a little concerned. "Luke?" He said again. No answer. Eric shook Luke harder, and said his name again. "LUKE!"

Eric started to feel the worst. He then reached his hand to Luke's big vein in his neck to fell for his pulse. Nothing. Eric started shaking. He then reached for Luke's wrist and felt for a pulse. Nothing. " No,no,no,no,no,no,no,no!" Eric put his hands to his head. Tears welled up in his eyes. " No,no,no,no,no,no,NO!" Eric couldn't believe this.

Eric lifted the seat off of Luke and threw to the side with strength he didn't know he had. He then lifted Luke up and walked to the door where the medics had came from. He then jumped out of the bus with Luke still in his arms.

Eric lay Luke down on the ground and yelled, "Help! Somebody help!" A medic came to him and looked at Luke. He bent down and felt for Luke's pulse. Concern washed over the medic's face. " I need a stretcher!" He then looked at Eric. he then rushed over to him and help up his arm. And so did Eric. He saw that a piece of metal was impaled in his arm. Eric's eyes widened. " Oh my God." Was all that Eric said before he fell down and fainted.
