Mike watched as the blonde strode over to the vegetable section. Nothing had changed about her since he last saw the woman. Unconcious about how he was smiling widely as he heard her laugh as she talked on the phone - her face lighting up at that instant - he received a nudge on the arm from his friend, though that didn't stop him from gawking at her flawless legs that were completely exposed by her short - and tight-fitting - jean shorts.
"Dude, what are you looking at?" Trevor asked, following Mike's gaze. "Oh." He mumbled, once he saw the blonde place a cabbage on her cart. "Carrie!" He shouted whilst raising his hand to wave at her, catching the twenty-six-year-old's attention.
Mike knocked Trevor on the floor in the hopes of not being noticed by his ex-girlfriend but failed miserably. They also knocked over the aisle of canned goods, making an awful noise on the grocery store, just when he thought he couldn't have any more awkward encounters with the woman a few feet away from them.
"Mike?" Carrie's brows furrowed as she turned to where the sound came from, her expression immediately turned the opposite, smilling as the brunnete flashed her a smile, awkwardly waving at her.
Mike straightened out his shirt as Trevor helped himself up, excusing himself from the two. "Hi." Mike said, smiling like an idiot. He didn't know why but he sort of got a bit giddy seeing his old lover after a couple of years.
"Hi." Carrie giggled, staring at his towering frame over her. She kept her phone back inside the back pocket of her shorts, ignoring its vibrating sensation as she talked to Mike.
"How have you been?" He asked, fighting the urge of frowning when a guy - almost as tall as him - approached Carrie, placing his hand on the small of her back after putting a few thing on Carrie's cart. Averting his eyes back to the blonde beauty, he smiled again.
"I've been good." She smiled sweetly. "By the way this is Drake." She watched as the two shook hands. "And Drake this is Mike."
"Nice to meet you." Mike gave him a smile, receiving a nod and a smile. Again, he felt jealousy over his body when the blonde guy leaned in to whisper on Carrie's ear and watched him intently as he left.
"How about you? I heard you've been transferred to the Preds." Carrie started the conversation back not wanting him to leave so soon.
"Yeah, actually I just moved in to my new house in Brentwood." He smiled. "And if i'm not mistaken, it's just a few blocks from your house." He chuckled. "If you still live there."
"I still do!" Carrie exclaimed, too happy to find out they were just a few houses away from each other and they would most definitely run into each other again one of these days and she already couldn't wait.
"Mike!" Trevor called pointing at his watch to tell him that they're running out of time.
Mike sighed. "I have to go." He said. "But do you think we can catch up again sometime? Just friends, promise. You can even bring your boyfriend with you."
"Sure." Carrie laughed almost too loudly. "I don't have a boyfriend though."
"Drake isn't?" Mike's brows furrowed.
"No!"
"Well then, I take back what I said." Mike grinned.
Carrie's right eyebrow raised. "Are you asking me out on a date?" She narrowed her eyes suspiciously at him.
"Maybe." Mike shrugged.
"Okay then."
Mike fist pumped. "Sweet." He couldn't wipe the smile on his face and probably nothing would certainly do. "Well I got to go! I'll uh, pick you up tomorrow at six?"
"Okay." Carrie didn't know what else to say but she couldn't stop herself from grinning widely. As she wasn't sure if this is a good idea at all, she battled inside her mind whether to go chase Mike and make an excuse to not go or just go with the flow. She began following Mike's direction.
"Well you know what they say about true love." Mike smirked at Trevor who was bombarding him with questions about Carrie.
"What?" Trevor asked confused.
"It never dies."
Carrie silently laughed to herself. "You know." She piped in. "I'm pretty sure that's "First love never dies." She watched as Mike's smirk rub off his face shaking his head.
"Same thing." Mike tilted his head to the side and laughed. "Are you following me?" He asked confused as to why the blonde followed him.
"Oh no, I was just heading to the um, the counter, to pay." She stuttered, immediately changing her mind about rejecting the hockey hunk. "I'll see you tomorrow, Mr. Fisher."
"And I'll see you tomorrow, Ms. Underwood." He smiled.
