"I don't know why but when I look in your eyes, I feel something that seems so right."
Ivey pulled her friend to the side after having enough of her actions. "Carrie." She started, now finally catching the attention of the singer. "Seriously, snap out of it."
Carrie looked down and sighed. "I know, I know. I just, look at her." Carrie looked back at Alessandra and Mike in the middle of the small crowd. "She's so pretty and tall and just overall gorgeous."
"Well, she's a model so there's that." Ivey piped in, looking back at Carrie.
Carrie glared at her friend. "No wonder why Mike likes her so much." She sighed again, kicking the floor with her boot.
"Well, she's his girlfriend."
Carrie glared at her again. "Yeah, well stop reminding me." She avoided Mike's gaze and turned her attention back to Ivey. "I hate this." She groaned. "Why did you even invite me here?"
"Well, we're actually celebrating your Grammy win."
"Would you stop saying 'well'?"
"Well, I suppose I could."
Carrie rolled her eyes for the nth time. "Then why is she here?" She started walking to the fridge and grabbed a beer.
"I don't know, maybe because Mike is your best friend and she's his girlfriend." Ivey replied sarcastically.
"Ugh for God's sake Ivey, stop reminding me that."
"Stop reminding you what?"
Carrie froze in her position, crouched down by the cooler grabbing two beer bottles. "You want beer?" She asked Mike and flashed him a fake smile.
Mike shook his head and chuckled. "I just want you."
"Excuse me, what?"
Mike pushed himself up on the counter as Ivey made an excuse to leave the two alone. "This is your party and I've been here for hours but I haven't congratulated you yet."
"Oh." Carrie let out a nervous chuckle and leaned against the counter. "Well, here I am."
"Alessandra said thanks for the invite, she had to leave early though for she still has work tomorrow." Mike smiled.
"Tell her I said anytime, I'm glad she came." Lie. Totally a lie.
"She was so bummed she couldn't tell you good bye, she said she wanted to get to know you more."
"Maybe we can hang out some other time." Not. Carrie fake smiled.
"I'll make sure to tell her." Mike smiled and jumped off of the counter and walked closer to Carrie. "She'll be ecstatic. She's a huge fan." He said before taking her hand. "Let's dance."
"Why?" Usually, Carrie would oblige without second thoughts, but now she thought the more she gets closer to Mike, the more she'll get attached and the more she'll be hurt.
"Because I want to dance with my best friend." Mike pulled her in the middle of the kitchen, it was just the two of them, and wrapped his arms around her waist, after guiding her arms around his nape. "But seriously congratulations on your win, I'm so proud of you." He smiled.
Ivey saw from the far corner of the living room what was happening in the kitchen so she switched the songs into slow ones. She knew Carrie was going to kill her, figuratively at least, but she saw how jealous Carrie got watching Mike and his girlfriend dance earlier, she knew this would make Carrie happy, even for just a few minutes.
"Thank you, that means a lot." Carrie replied, her face getting redder with each second that passes.
Mike pulled her closer, to the point where they were almost hugging. "Hey that's your favorite song!" Mike said, hearing Brad Paisley's 'New Favorite Memory' start to play and imediately he started singing.
Carrie couldn't help but laugh at Mike's silliness. "Mike stop, you're ruining the song!" She teased, still they were swaying to the beat.
"Oh you know you love it." He winked before singing again, loving how Carrie couldn't stop smiling and laughing. "I wanna soak this in, I've got a new favorite memory of you." Mike batted his eyebrows multiple times, their faces now too close for Carrie's liking.
Carrie's face was completely flushed, she tried so hard to focus on Mike's crystal blue eyes, her favorite part of his face but she couldn't help but glance down further to his lips until she couldn't stop herself anymore and kissed him.
Mike's eyes widened. He didn't expect that at all and he was completely frozen in his spot, unable to react. The next things he knows, Carrie was saying sorry over and over again before running out.
He didn't even had the chance to respond to her and say that there was no need to be sorry."How can something so wrong feel so right all along?"
