"Isaiah said he's bringing friends with him." Mike told his wife who was cooking dinner. He walked towards the kitchen, sitting on one of the bar stools as he watched the blonde get too engrossed on a new dish she just learned.
"Yeah, I remember him telling me that before he left." Carrie stared at the food she was cooking, contemplating on her mind if it would be enough for her family and his son's friends. "Can you ask him how many, though? I don't think this will feed us all." She laughed, as she checked on another casserole.
Mike texted his son, doing what his wife asked. "You know, I think that can already feed the whole neighborhood." Mike chuckled, as his wife settled across him, leaning on the counter top.
Charlotte walked down the stairs after changing her clothes, already smelling the luscious taste of the food her mom is cooking. "Smells really good in here." The fifteen - year - old said, kissing his father on the cheek, then settling on hugging him.
"Somebody missed her Daddy." Mike commented, hugging his daughter back. He just came back from an away game just a couple of hours ago and his daughter just got home from shopping with her friends.
"Really, who?" Charlotte teased, narrowing her eyes at Mike.
Carrie just watched her daughter and husband converse, contented at the heartwarming sight. Charlotte has always been a daddy's girl and she doesn't think that it will ever change. "Charlie, will you taste this please?"
Charlotte took the spoon from her mother's hand almost immediately. It's not that she was starving, she was just excited to taste the food that smells so good. "This tastes like heaven." She said, licking the spoon clean before placing it on the sink. "Can we eat already?"
Carrie laughed. "Not yet." She turned off the stove and began bringing out plates from the cabinet. "We have to wait for your brother and his friends."
"They're almost here and they are about five." Mike piped in, reading the text he just received from his son.
"Oh-kay." Carrie counted the plates on her hands before setting them on the dining table. Her daughter helping her with the other utensils. "Boy aren't you excited to eat?" Charlotte was already seated on her favorite spot.
"I think we all are." Mike walked over to Carrie, side hugging her. "What's for dessert?" He inquired.
"Unfortunately, I didn't make anything for dessert." Carrie frowned, completely forgetting that part about dinner.
"Well then, can I have you for dessert instead?" Mike whispered.
"Um, hello?! Your kid is in front of you!" Charlotte said wide-eyed. "And I bought brownies, they're on the fridge. You should have that instead." She made a face of disgust, her parents both laughing.
Just then, their front door opened, a couple of laughs ringing out as the sight of Isaiah, 2 boys and 2 girls came in to their sight. The eighteen - year - old immediately went straight to her mother, greeting her with a kiss on the cheek and then fist bumping his father and his sister, with his friends all piled up behind him, greeting the married couple with "Good evening."
Everyone seemed familiar to Carrie, Isaiah had brought the same guys home with him a couple of times, except for the two girls. "Hi." Carrie greeted the group of teenagers with her signature smile.
