I'm 28 now and I've decided to stop running a long time ago.
I've settled down in an apartment in Manhattan but i still visit the school. Sometimes i help teaching there.
I have a job as a reporter in the local newspaper along with my friend, Brady. Brady and I have became close. Not romantically involved, just good friends.
Most people know me as the Shadow, but for people who know me personally know me as regular Scralett Ruewen, who lives in Manhattan and works in the newspaper
Now, i use my powers to protect people. They call me The Shadow. Because im stealthy like a shadow.
Being a reporter helps me be in crime scenes without being asked why. Its the perfect cover story.
Now, i protect Manhattan as the Scarlett Shadow
I'm sitting on the ledge of the roof of a building
I just stopped a bank robbery. Now, im watching the police bring the robbers into the car and into prison.
I've made my peace with the police men over the years, and now they stop chasing me.
I watched as they left on their car.
I just sat there, sitting on the ledge with my broze sword at my side.
"Good job down there." Said a voice behind me
I stood up, grabbed my sword, and spun backwards
"Who's there?"
A girl materialized from nowhere. She had brown hair and eyes, freckles covered her face, and she wore a SHEILD agent uniform
"Who are you?" I asked
"My name's Lynn White." She said "Agent of SHEILD."
I lowered my sword "I know all about SHEILD. Fury's been trying to recruit me for months."
She chuckled "I know. Your the hardest one Fury's been trying to recruit."
I frowned "Is that why your here?" I asked "Fury sent you?"
She shook her head "No. I came here to talk to you. In person."
I raised an eyebrow "Why?"
She spread her arms "I know how you feel being a mutant. Believe me, i've been there."
I frowned "How would you know?"
"Because," she said "I'm a mutant too."
I stepped back, shocked "You too?" Then i frowned "What are your powers then?"
"Teleporting, force fields, and energy blasts." She answered
For some reason, i believed her
"I came here to you because I thought you needed a friend." She told me "You cant go through all you're going through on your own, Scarlett. I can help you. I've been through the same."
We talked for a while, and soon enough, we became friends
Then i realized it was getting late
"You better get going." I told Lynn "Its getting pretty late."
She smiled "Yeah. I guess your right."
We exchanged phone numbers
I smiled "See you around, Lynn. Keep in touch."
I ran to the ledge and jumped. I didn't fall, i just dissapeared into the shadows
