"No, Scarlett! Don't touch that!" Said a red haired woman running towards a four and a half year old girl who was playing with a knife on the floor of their apartment
She ran towards the child and took the knife out of her hand. The child looked at her mother with those distracting blue eyes.
Her mother, Edalaine Ruewen, smiled and picked up her child and sat on a chair
"You are to young to use those blades, little one." Edalaine said holding her child in her arms
"When the time comes, your special gifts will do great things in the world."
Her child was not a regular baby. She was a mutant, just like het. With the power to Shadow travel and to control the elements. Most mutant parents push away their mutant children, but not Edalaine. She loved her daughter, no matter what.
She was also a mutant. She had the power of Telekenisis, teleportation, and also fire
The baby started crying. Her mother smiled and started singing a song to her child. Instantly, her baby stopped crying and laughed in delight. She loved how her mother would sing to her every night
But then there was a pounding at the door
"Open this door!" Said a man's voice "You cannot hide forever!"
Edalaine grew pale. She grabbed a satchel and went to the window
With her child in her hands, she climbed down the fire escape ladder.
She ran, desprate to get her and her child away from the horrible people. Those people that chase mutants and hunt them down for fun and/or money
But eventually, she knew that her child will never be safe if she was with her
She teleported herself. She was also a mutant
She found the one place her child will be safe. The place where mutants were free and could learn
Xavier's School For Gifted Children.
She placed a her baby in a basket and a note with her
The baby started to cry. Her mother shushed the baby
"Do not worry, Scarlett." She told the her "You will be safe here."
Her mother sang her a song and the baby fell asleep
With a heavy heart, she got up and ran so that ger child will stay safe
For now, at least
A few moments later, Scarlett woke up and started crying
The door opened and a man peaked out
It was Charles Xavier
"Who's there?" He asked then he noticed the crying baby "Oh... Hello there."
He picked the baby up from the basket and the baby stopped crying a bit. He saw the note and read it. It said:
Charles,
This is Edaliane Ruewen, your old friend . Also, this baby is my daughter. Her name is Scarlett Ruewen. If your reading this, it means i cannot take care of her anymore. Those mutant hunters finally found me after all these years. Silly to think i thought i could outrun them my while life, even with a baby. Please, as a last favor, take care of my child. Protect her.

Charles was heartbroken
He knew Edaliane, they were old friends. But after reading this note . . . he knew what was to be done
He frowned and then looked at the baby
"It looks like I'm going to take care of you now, Scarlett." He said smiling at the little baby mutant
Scarlett smiled. Charles brought her in the school
