"Hi, Vincent", Jake said, opening the door.

"Jake! Kat!", Vincent said, hugging us. "Is Nicole already here?"

"Nope. But she just called me and she's on her way", I said, broadly smiling. Today I feel different, like when I used to jump on a bunch of fallen leaves on a windy autumn day. Sometimes I'd roll down among the leaves... or Sonny would throw a bunch of leaves at me. I remember a day I was laughing so much I ended up with a leaf in my mouth.

"Does it taste good?" he would say, laughing and throwing another bunch at me. But I digress. Maybe it's the fact that it's been raining all day. Rain makes me happy. Especially combined with wind and skyscrapers.

"Earth to Kat!" Vincent said, grinning. "I'm gonna make some coffee, do you want some?"

"Yeah, sure", I replied. "Jake, do you want some coffee?"

"No, thanks", Jake said. "I'll drink soda."

Vincent shrugged. "Well, I'm gonna get your coffee and your soda. Wait a second", he said, going to the kitchen. Twenty seconds later, he was back with a glass. He gave it to Jake. "Okay, now I'm getting your coffee, hold on", he said and returned to the kitchen.

"Have you noticed our rehearsals are always at rush hours?" Jake asked me, drinking some of his Sprite.

"I hadn't thought about it before, but  yeah,  you're right, why?" I replied.

"Okay, here's your coffee", Vincent said, giving me a red mug.

"Does it have sugar?", I asked.

"Yup. 2 sugar 1 cream."

The doorbell rang. Vincent opened the door. It was Nicole.

"Nicole!" Vincent said, hugging her. "I am making coffee, do you want some?"

Nicole nodded and Vincent entered the kitchen again.

"So did you have fun at Union Square?" Jake asked me, sitting on the sofa.

"Yeah, Sonny showed me part of the city. Union Square, Greenwich Village, Times Square and we had dinner at an Italian restaurant", I said, trying to sound as matter-of-fact as possible.

Nicole squealed. I smiled shyly.

"And I'm singing on his new song too", I added.

"Awesome!", Jake said, astonished.

"What?", Vincent asked, almost letting Nicole's coffee fall down.

"Lemme help ya. It's okay, thanks. Now get your coffee", Nicole said, taking the mug from Vincent's hands.

Vincent returned with his coffee.

"Okay, again, from the beginning", he said, sitting down with us.

"Long story short, Sonny took Kat on a little tour last night. They had dinner at an Italian restaurant and he asked her to sing on his new song", Jake told Vincent.

"Are you finished? I think we should start practicing right now", Nicole said.

We all got up.

"We're starting with 'A Life To Lead', is that okay?", Jake asked us. We nodded. "All right, one, two, three, four!"
