We went up to the castle. I couldn't wait to get up there. Partially because I wanted to feel the safe and welcoming glow of Hogwarts. But also because these carriages were only supposed to hold a maximum of five people.

We made it up to the castle and stopped right before the massive doors at the entrance of Hogwarts. We all got off the carriage happily. Alex and Maddy both let out sounds of relief. I did too as I got feeling back in my leg that was being crushed under Beth.

I linked arms with Hermione and started to walk. We were soon joined by Maddy, Beth, and Claire. We all walked through the doors with Ben, Alex, Harry, Ron, and Olly behind us.

Since this was our fifth year, we didn't have to be escorted by a teacher to our common rooms.

Hermione, Harry, and Ron left us to go to their common room. I told Hermione that I would see her at the welcome feast and gave her a quick hug. Ben took her place beside me and threw his arm around me. We walked to the dungeons where the common room was and came to a plain brick wall. I tapped the wall in a diamond shape and stood back.  The bricks started to shift and move, revealing the big silver door that leads to the common room.

I unlinked arms with Maddy and walked into the common room. I loved our common room. It had silver and green walls, black couches and there were pictures of famous Slytherins hanging around the room. I wondered if at a time there was a picture of Voldemort when he was still Tom Riddle. I never asked anyone out of fear that they would think I'm insane. Beth, Maddy and I went to the right of the common room towards the girls' rooms and the boys went left to theirs.

Maddy, Beth and I all shared a room alone. Since Maddy was the best in our year at Herbology and I was best in my year at potions, we got to choose who we wanted a room with. Considering professor Snape was the potions teacher and the head of Slytherin, he liked me very much.

The rooms had white walls with black details down the center of each wall. The beds were all twin sized and had black and green sheets. They had two pillows each but I always brought one from home. I always loved driving into lots of pillows at the end of the day.

We all chose our beds. I took the one in the back right corner. Maddy took the one across from me to the right. Beth and Claire took the two front beds. I usually took the bed at the back because it was the quietest part of the room. We often put a sound charm on our room so our conversations didn't travel through the thin door.

We all put our bags down and all got ready for the welcome feast. Maddy and Beth went first out the door before Claire and I, leaving us alone. I looked at Claire as she was putting on a new coat of mascara. I sat on her bed and waited for her.

"Elena," she said nervously closing her mascara and putting in back in her bag.

"What?" I asked

Beth let out a sigh and turned to look at me. I could tell that she was going to tell me something but she was hesitant.

"Beth was talking about you behind your back this morning," she said looking at the floor.

"What do you mean?" I said standing up. My tone was a mix of confusion and anger. It came out a little more demanding than I hoped.

"She said that you purposely spilled water on yourself," she said looking up at me, knowing that it was important that I hear her. "She said that it was typical that you were trying to get attention on the first day"

What? How could she say that? I don't try to get attention. I didn't even spill water on myself. It was Draco. I should have just told them the truth. Why didn't I? Why did I care if they got mad at Draco? Of course, this would happen, there just had to be drama on the first day.
