Sara Watson
Finally, after hours of searching, Robbie finally found a couch that he liked. It was dark blue with flecks of white through out it. "I like this one," he decided, jumping onto it. "It's soft." He patted the seat next to him, indicating he wanted me to sit next to him.
I set my purse down before sitting next to him. We were far enough away that our arms weren't touching.
"Where do you want to go tonight?" he asked suddenly. I looked quickly at him, he wasn't looking back. Instead he was looking straight forward with a small smile on his face.
Caught off guard I answered, "I don't know."
"Olive Garden is yummy," he replied back. I started to laugh. "What?" he finally looked down at me.
"Yummy? I didn't think you'd use that word," I teased. He started to laugh with me.
"We should tell the manager that we're getting this couch set," he changed the subject after we were done laughing.
"Oh, right."
We stood up and faced each other, then, me blushing and him chuckling, we made our way toward the front of the store. As we approached the front of the store I realized that my purse was still back on the couch.
"You go ahead, I have to get my purse," I started to walk quickly away from Robbie.
"Of course. I'll be at cash register nine, okay?" he called back. I nodded before walking again. I finally got to the place that we were at and grabbed my purse off the couch. As I was about to leave I noticed something shiny peeking out from the crease of the couch. I reached for it and pulled it out. It was a picture of Robbie and an older lady. I creased my eyebrows. The lady reminded me oddly of myself. I shrugged and started off towards cash register nine.
"You dropped your picture," I said, handing it to Robbie. His face flushed and he quickly grabbed the photo.
"Thanks. I'm glad you found it."
"Who was that in the picture?" I asked curiously.
He cleared his throat. "That was my instructor from Idaho."
"Huh..." his uncomfortable look gave me the feeling that he wasn't telling the truth. "What was her name?" I asked. Maybe this would catch his lie.
"Miss Watson."
I froze and then forced myself to think. Do I have any aunts that live in Idaho? I can't think of any. Maybe we're not related... but we look so much alike!
"Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine." I put my hand on a sturdy surface to steady myself. "I just think we've been shopping for a while. I'd like to go home if that's alright with you."
"Yes," I looked up to see worry etched across his face. "Do you need help to the car?"
I nodded. He wound his hand around my waist and I put my arm around his shoulders. I don't know why I always overreact to these things...
"Is she okay?" a person asked as we exited the building.
"Yeah, she's just feeling a little light headed," Robbie replied. "Thanks for asking."
