8 stores and 20 shopping bags later, Jenna and I sat in the food court sharing a pretzel.  She was smiling for real, and she seemed much better.

Suddenly, her face changed.  Her smile dropped and her eyes clouded.

"Jenna? You okay?" I asked.

She looked at me and smiled the widest she had all day.

"I know how to get back at Calum," she said.

I almost spit out my bite of pretzel.  No one ever tried to take revenge on Calum Hood, they just got over him, if possible.

"How?" I asked in disbelief.

"With you," she said.

This time I thought I was seriously going to spit out the pretzel.

"What?" I asked, bewildered.

"You.  We can make him fall for you, and then you can break his heart so he knows what it feels like." Jenna seemed really proud of herself for thinking of that.

"I can't do that," I admitted.  "I'm not even that popular." It was true.  Jenna and I weren't the popular kids.  No one really knew of us until Calum.  Jenna had just gotten her braces off and gotten contacts, and then Calum appeared.  First, he asked to if she could tutor him, and him being Calum Hood, she didn't say no, even though she hated tutoring.  After a week of tutoring at her house, Calum kissed her, and she obviously didn't refuse.  A week later they were official.  And so people started to know who we were.  Jenna more than me, since she was Calum's girlfriend.  Jenna and I slowly climbed the totem pole, but we still weren't considered popular.  Just known.  Then he broke her heart.

"So?  Why does that matter? We can make him pay attention to you."  Her face was so full of hope, I didn't know if I could say no.  "Please," she pleaded.

I rolled my eyes and grumbled.  "Fine," I caved.  "But I'm not doing it for long."

She jumped out of her chair and gave me a hug that literally took my breath away.

"You're the best, Cassie," she gushed.

"I know."

On Monday before school, Jenna came over and gave me a 'makeover.'  Not really though.  All she did was brought me a new outfit, a black mid-thigh length skirt, a red, tight crop top, and black combat boots.  She also brought a low hanging necklace with a white arrow pointing down on the chain.  She curled my long brown hair and added extra makeup to my face, adding winged eyeliner.

When she finished, she took a step back and looked me over.  "You look hot," she remarked.

I laughed and headed to my full body mirror.  As I observed myself, I found out she was right.  Usually I just wore jeans and a t-shirt to school and a small amount of makeup.  But today, I looked the best I've ever looked in all of my 3 and a half years of high school.

"Let's go.  Calum always heads in the east entrance at 7:50.  We need to make sure you're there, too," Jenna said and dragged me to her car.

When we got to the school parking lot, it was 7:46.

"Go!" Jenna screamed at me.

I grabbed my backpack out of the back seat and rushed to the east side of school.  I got there just as Calum Hood opened the door.  He saw me coming and his eyes flashed with interest.  I had to restrain myself from rolling my eyes.

"Hey," he said, cocking his head.

"Hey," I said walking past him.  I needed to play hard to get.  I smirked when I heard Calum rush after me.

"Wait!" he said as he fell in line with me.  "So, you must be new."

"Not really," I said, not looking a him.

"Oh, I guess I just haven't seen you before," he concluded.  "So, what's you're name?"

"Cassie," I replied.

"Oh, cool," he said.  "So, are you doing anything Friday night?"

"I don't know, why?" I questioned even though I already knew the answer.

"Well, I thought maybe we could hang out," he suggested.  He flashed me smile. Ugh.

"No thanks," I replied and walked away.  Without having to look back I knew his jaw was open and he had stopped moving.  I smirked and continued walking to my locker.  Step 1, check.
