Rita sighed as she was walking on the sidewalk. The roads were full as usual with cars. She looked at her watch and listened through the sounds of the city and the people who go along with their lives not knowing what was going to happen. Living in the present, how lucky they are. Rita looked at her right hand that was covered in black, "I should have known that it would be troublesome if they got involved in me."

Her shoulder that showed skin shined in the moonlight. She looked up and knew that it was a half the time and yet she felt tired. She was born differently but she was not a vampire until the hit or the accident for what the humans filed it. Rita looked up to the building and shook her head to get rid of the thoughts that would get her lose control of herself. She went in to the building and looked up at the sky. The roof was not built yet but she could feel the wramth the building will give to many customers that would come in the future,

"I finally found you, Rita."

Rita smiled and spotted  a man jumping down from one of the steel beams and in front of her, "You really weren't fond of the game hide and seek. Mr. Tye."

"Oh come on you should at least address me as friends," he whined, "We've known each other for awhile."

"Okay Aiden what do you want tonight?" she asked.

"I just wanted to let you know that your brother is wanting to talk to you," he sighed, "I'm guessing that you have been ignoring your phone again since he sent me to tell you."

"Ahhh that was what that strange buzzing sound was," she said, "Sorry for the trouble. I was finishing up a script."

"I'm looking forward to your next story," he said and got out a five dollar bill, "So when are you going to let me pay you back?"

"Soon, very soon," she sighed and Aiden frowned he didn't like the sound of that.

"Are you saying that it is almost time?" he choked.

All Rita did was nod, "So do you have a case for me or do I have to beat it out of you?"

Aiden knew that she didn't want to continue talking about the time so he went along with it, "Yeah I found some case that seemed to have a bit of disturbance that is bothering me."

He pulled out the file and handed it to him, "It is the usual?" she asked.

Aiden nodded, "Of course it's best that way."

"Thank you and I'll make sure to contact my brother," she assured him, "I don't want to cause you any trouble."

"Rita for you I would be delighted to be in trouble," he said and kissed her on the cheek.

Again a flash went in front of her eyes.

"Sorry I couldn't help myself." he said.

"No it's fine," she breathed, "Congratulations."

"What did you see?" Rita gave him the eyes that she was not going to tell him, "Nevermind."

"I'll look in to the case but as usual no promises." she said and he nodded.

"I'll pop up at your place on friday," he said.

"Great just in time for the end of school." she said.

"And a new beginning."

"I already tried that but never works," she said and Aiden knew what she meant, "New beginnings are for humans."

"Oh you know that is not true," he said.

"Then let me rephrase it then," she said, "New beginnings are not for me. Go, I'm sure it's time for you to check up on your end of the case."

"Yeah I guess so," Aiden said, "I hope that this doesn't get too deep."

"It always does," she sighed and he nodded before going away from her sight, "Every case always goes deeper in to darkness until you turn in to a shacdow like me." she said to herself and went home at the apartment. She climbed the stairs and saw that William was waiting for her in front of his door.

"Good evening William what can I do for you?" she asked getting her keys out.

"It's pretty late for a lady like you to be out this late." he said.

"I may look young but I assure you that I am older than you," she stated.

"What were you doing this late?"

"Those are the exact words that I imagine my father would tell me when he was concerned about me," she said then turned to him, "Are you concerned about me William? You shouldn't be. I'll make sure that I won't get involve with you guys after graduation."

"That won't be necessary," William said, "Karen is detirmined to be friends with you so I wanted to just warn you."

"Thank you I think," she said as she opened the door.

"Thank you too," he said, "For the warning at the club. I'm also sorry about Karen dragging you out to the club with us since you didn't want to go."

"It is okay," she said, "I needed to get out anyway. Good night William." she said and shut the door. She went to her desk and flopped the file in front of her. She sat in her chair and tried to calm herself from the night. She opened the file and the first thing that she saw was a young lady that was slashed open from the back and the spine was missing. That would be the same thing I would do to get the attention of the police but what would get the attention of the vampire government. Rita got her answer on the next page. Damn this is why then. It was on the neck of the victim that had the signals that some vampire was feeding off of her before the kill.

No wonder there were concern about this body. A vampire was the killer. The guy must be a brave killer if he wanted the attention of the human and vampire government. She went to the next few pages and saw that there was something strange about the physical of the victim. She was pale and her bones were strong enough to become an athlete but the doctors that examined the victim before she became dead was that she was weak and could not be strong enough to be waling. So how did she become strong on the last few minutes of the kill. Then it hit her, there was no doubt about it. There was a Mercy in the city.
