It was the day I felt a new feeling heating up inside me. I didn't recognize it, as I had never felt it before.
The next day I did my usual morning routine, but this time purposely frigid my lunch. My mom was asleep on the counter somehow and I had to carry her to the couch, but that was the only thing out of the ordinary.
Lunch time, noon.
Kazue and I were eating together, as usual. But, I didn't have my food."Feed me!" I demanded.
"Oh, Nami." Kazue let out a small sigh with his smile. Cake. It's all I eat now.
"Your cake always tastes delicious." I smiled, finishing it up.
"I always make it now knowing that you'll be eating it." He smiled.
"Really? So you think of me while you make this cake?" I asked.
"W-Well... I guess..." He averted his gaze and his voice slowly trailed off.
"Hehehe. I'm happy to hear that!" I beamed Kazue didn't look back at me but his cheeks spread a rose color.
Free period, one in the afternoon.
As we finished lunch Kazue suddenly grabbed my hand and ran to the roof, dragging me with him."Wow! Hey! Slow down!" I cried. When we got to the roof he let go of me and we leaned on the fence yet again. The clouds were all weird today.
"Ooh! I already found you!" I exclaimed, pointing at the most deformed cloud ever.
"And I found you." He said, pointing up to an extremely weird cloud.
"You still look worse." I added.
"Nah, you're worse." He chuckled.
"No! I'm better!" I cried, standing up, putting my hands on my hips.
"Nuh-uh!" He imitated me.
"Yes-huh!" I cried.
"Nope."
"Yep."
"Nope."
"Yep."
"Nope!"
"Yep!" We argued like children.
"Fine, fine. You win again. You're still m- I mean a unicorn." He smiled.
"Yup. I'm a unicorn, and you're a hog!" I said cheerfully.
"Am I really that ugly though?" He sighed, averting his gaze.
"What? No. In fact I find you quite attracti-" I stopped myself and sat down. I felt my face heat up a little.
"Hm? Attractive?" He grinned.
"N-No...!" I cried.
"But you just said attractive..." He continued grinning.
"I-I did n-not!" I stammered, growing redder and redder.
"But you did!" He chuckled.
"Sh-Shut up, idiot." I turned away. My face was probably as red as a tomato.
"Thanks, I guess." He smiled, looking up at the clouds. His hair swayed and suddenly my heart started pounding. Beating, like a drum. A very loud drum, it got louder and louder to the point I could hear it. Stop beating so loud! Can he hear it? I freaked out. Then, my chest began hurting. What now?! My heart felt like it was throbbing. Oh good god, stop! I began sweating. Then, I noticed something. His heart was beating loudly too. What on earth is this!? Are they usually beating this loudly!? To break my awkwardness I got up and turned to the fence, looking over the city.
"Wow..." A breath escaped my lips.
"Hm? Have you never looked over the city before?" He asked, getting up and joining me.
"No... I guess not..." I mumbled, completely mesmerized by the view. Although I was looking at the city, I felt eyes on me, not the city. In the corner of my eye I saw Kazue focusing all his attention on me. He suddenly opened his mouth as if to say something but ended up shutting it.
"Not yet..." I heard him mumble.
"Huh?" I asked, looking at him.
"N-Nothing!" He smiled, his cheeks quickly turning to a light pink hue. I looked back at the city. Leaves were falling, as Autumn was approaching. The wind blew softly throughout the tree's branches, making quiet sounds as if whispers. There were no birds in the sky and the clouds were pure white, as if floating cotton balls in the clear, blue sky. Once again, his eyes were on me.
"So... Uh..." He mumbled. My heart began pounding once more. Oh shut up! I'd prefer you just stop beating rather than beating so damn loudly! I felt myself blushing harshly.
"Ah... We should get back to class..." I said awkwardly.
"Y-Yeah..." He followed behind me as we walked back to class. What is this feeling?
