Sister

A visit to my parents-

my sister saw.

Her screams echoed,

"Who could have hurt you so?"

My sobs bounced off,

The adjacent walls.

I stuttered,

No longer

Able

To form

 a word.

She carried my frail body-

Up two stories.

She bandaged my cuts,

"Don't you ever scare me again,"

She said,

Pointing a finger.

Her arms wrapped around-

My shoulders,

And she whispered into my ears-

A soft melody.

"I promise..."

Her thoughts trailed off.

"I'm here for you, no matter what."

So much wisdom,

For someone

Two years younger.
