Sisters, public embarassment and the truth

I thought I had made the right choice with not telling Jake. My step sisters would tell him, tell the whole school.

The week had gone by as normal. The same boring lessons, the same choirs, the same people and the same work.

It was Thursday morning when we had a planned assembly, students were issued to run it. It was probably the athletes of the year who would be running it as they usually do.

All of the student body piled into the hall. Pushing and shoving was all you could feel. Everyone was desperate to get a seat, and not have to sit on the floor.

I budged my way through and managed to get a seat at the back along with Nora which I was thankful for.

Jake and Chad were sat at the front, unfortunate for them on the floor. Although I'm sure they would be part of the assembly at one point.

Once everyone had seated and fell into silence, all the gymnasts, netball players, football players and other athletes came to the centre of the hall.

Along with the athletes it included my horrible step sisters dey with a horrid smirk imprinted on their face. Then their eyes were both set on me. Oh no. What were they planning?

"Hi guys welcome to our assembly" one girls said with a high pitched voice.

"Our assembly is about a story we have all grown to know" another guy said.

Then every one lined up all holding a piece of paper held in front of them. Their eyes glued on them as they began to read down a line.

"Once upon a time, there was a girl. Her name not yet known."
The first guy said.

"She thought she was so high and mighty, even though she was nerdy and not liked." A girl said.

"She dressed up in a big dress and put on a mask, trying to hide her true self." Another girl said.

"The best guy ever was there, a true gentlemen full of many talents." A girl said as she looked awe struck.

I knew what they were leading to then. I felt like tears were building up in my eyes but I tried to hold them back.

"She tried to fool him, take his kindness as a way to play him." A guy said. Then it moved onto my stepsisters.

"But the thing is she was oh so wrong."

"Your familiar with this story, right Deana?" Trudy said.

I shook my head, mouthing 'please" to Trudy. As tears fell down my face.

"I mean you tried fooling Jake didn't you? Too bad you didn't have enough guts to actually tell him it was you."

At this point everyone's heads had turned into my direction. Everyone was starring as tears fell down my face. But the only person I could focus in was Jake.

He was looking directly at me, even from the distance I could still see the hurt in his eyes. He got up looking down at the floor shaking his head. He walked out of the room. I let out a whimper.

One thing was certain.

I hated my step sisters.
