New Friends! Yay!

After leaving the nice, normal Earth I found myself stood in a city very similar to London. Glancing around I saw the streets filled with people, bustling about in their daily lives. Just like on Earth, the human world, they all looked human and untroubled. I, however, was lost.

"Everyone looks so human," I whispered to myself, making my wings invisible and my eyes blue. "I don't fit in here." I grinned to myself. "This world should be fun to destroy."

"Excuse me," I said, tapping a passer-by on the arm. "I'm lost. Can you tell me where I am?"

They turned to me and raised an eyebrow. "You don't know where you are? Did you appear out of thin air or something?"

"Sort of," I admitted. They were taller than me and I couldn't tell if they were a girl or a boy. They had short, partially shaven scarlet hair that was crimped in a fringe over their forehead. Their eyes were dark brown and their face angular in a long way. They wore a suit jacket rolled up to the elbows and high-waisted skinny jeans.

"You're in Jiku," they informed me in a British accent. "The capital city of Arvid. Arvid is a country in Mikashi."

I pretended as if I knew what they meant. "Oh, yeah. Yeah, I know where I am now."

"You don't know, do you?" they said flatly.

"No," I said after a beat. They sighed and rolled their eyes.

"I'm Nova Fox," they said at last. "Who are you?"

"The name's Shaade Jaetun," I said, flashing my teeth in a charming smile.

"Not a very human name," Nova said through narrowed eyes.

"Neither is Nova," I pointed out.

"It's short for Supernova. Or is it short for Casanova? Nobody knows," Nova said mysteriously.

"I certainly don't know anything," I said. "Is there any chance of you explaining some things about this planet to me? Maybe over a drink?"

"Dude, no," Nova said. "I'm not going with you anywhere."

"And why not?" I asked, offended.

"You're quite obviously gay and if you're flirting with me then there is something odd in your brain," Nova said. "I may not look it but I am female."

"Quite the Sherlock, aren't you?" I smirked.

"Quite the obvious, aren't you?" Nova shot back.

"What does that mean?" I frowned.

"I'm not sure," Nova said. "You're irritating me."

"Why do I irritate you?" I asked.

"Something in my head is telling me to stay on the right side of you and I don't know why," Nova stated.

"Maybe because I'm so likeable," I said with a wink.

"Nah, I can tell you're an annoying little prick."

"Hey! You just met me and you already make that assumption?" I said, a hand over my heart as if I was genuinely hurt.

"Well yeah," Nova said with a roll of her eyes. "You're displaying who you are for everyone to see."

"What?" I said, bewildered.

"Oh, that might be just me," Nova said casually, "but I can see exactly who you are." She picked up a piece of gravel and aimed it directly at my wing. It hit the tip and I spun around, hitting a lamppost and falling onto my rear.

"You can see them?" I said in shock.

"Oh yeah," Nova nodded. "I shouldn't really tell you this because you might work for them-" She lowered her voice after glancing around nervously "-but I can always see people's powers, even when they hide it. Nice wings, by the way."
