Caw led me away from the patch of grass and down the streets. I was tugging my jacket down the entire time, eventually giving up, taking it off and tying it around my waist. I got a few wolf-whistles as I followed the dog down the street but ignored them all. It wouldn't be right to get together with someone while in Sam's body. And they didn't like me, only Sam and his muscles.
A small frown creased my forehead as I considered the fact that Caw might have just been winding me up and that it didn't really know where the two headed cat was. I could be stuck in Sam's body forever. I wasn't complaining, but it wasn't me.
"Through here," Caw barked, wriggling under a doorway and vanishing from sight. I contemplated the door for a second then kicked it down, sending it flying off its hinges and into the dark room beyond. Two mouths hissed at me and a low growl sounded from the depths of the room. I rolled my eyes and stepped inside, bending down so that I was at eye level with the two heads of the cat. It looked a lot thinner than before and not in a good mood.
"Why are you back?" Pip snapped.
"I need help," I replied.
"You are Shaade, right?" Melody said in concern. "Only I can't remember who we sent your souls to."
I blinked in confusion. "I'm a demon. I basically have no soul."
"Powerful magic," Pip said wisely before abruptly changing the subject. "Let me guess. You want us to send you back to your own body?"
"Yup," I nodded. "That is correct."
"Tough," Melody yawned.
"What?"
"We're not sending you back," Pip stated.
"Why not?" I cried.
"You're annoying," the two heads said in unison.
"And you deserve to be punished," Melody added.
"Is being in the wrong body and killing someone not enough?" I glared.
"Well, you killed someone, so you need to be punished more," Pip pointed out.
"Do whatever you want to me in my body," I pleaded, "but not this one. This is unfair on the others. You want to punish me, then fine. Punish me."
"Alright," Melody and Pip grinned simultaneously.
"You're going to pay for your troubles," Melody said slyly.
"What shall we make him do?" Pip asked the other head.
"Confess his love to Sam," Melody replied.
"Been there, done that," Caw interjected. "Next."
"For the last time, I am not in love with Sam!" I shouted angrily. Three pairs of eyes exchanged disbelievingly looks and I snarled low in my throat, the sound unfamiliar with an American accent. Slowly my irises and sclera faded to black and I could barely contain the power surging through me. Sam had said not to ruin his body and having wings burst from my back would tear his skin and probably permanently damage his muscles.
"Calm down," Melody said in alarm.
"We'll put you back in your own body but make you do set tasks while at your new job," Pip said.
"Ooh, can I help?" Caw asked.
"Sure!" the two heads said cheerfully. My anger vanished and was replaced with a resigned irritation.
"I've just made things a lot worse, haven't I?" I said dully.
"Yes," three voices said at once. I sighed deeply and stood up straight, rolling my shoulders.
"Send me to the others and come with me so I don't look mad," I ordered. "Then put everyone back to normal."
"Okay," Melody and Pip said. The room lit up suddenly and just before I was teleported back to the Stronghold hotel (or wherever they were staying, after my impromptu murder) I saw that the walls were illuminated and a suspicious substance was dripping from the ceiling. I had no time to question it, however, as there were several panicked gunshots.
"Dean! Whoever's shooting! Stop!" I shouted. The loud bangs were silenced and my vision finally cleared of blurring lights.
"What is that thing?" Dean said in disgust, Nova's face contorted into a look of horrified disbelief. I couldn't help the little snort of laughter that escaped me but I calmed down a second later when death glares were shot at me from around the room.
"Um, a two headed cat," I said. "And a puppy-dragon."
"I'm fairly certain baby dragons aren't called puppies," Sam said flatly. "And that they don't look like dogs."
"Caw can turn into a dragon," I explained. "Also, it is incredibly spooky to hear sensible things coming out of my mouth so please don't talk unless you communicate in velociraptor noises, thanks." I smiled and Sam looked incredibly confused.
"Wha-?"
"That's more like it." I turned to the creatures that had come with me and looked pointedly at them. Pip sighed and Melody muttered something then the room seemed to spin. I felt my mind torn from the host body I was in and I swept about in the air for a second before settling. I glanced down and immediately averted my eyes.
"Wrong body," I said. "I'm not Nova and neither did I want to be able to see down her top." I shivered and then yelped out loud as I was roughly dragged from the body I was in, hurled about in the air and then sent catapulting back into the correct body. Said body slammed against the wall and my head hit the plaster hard, my brain being knocked back into place and my mind rattling around my skull as my thoughts swirled. The first thing I registered was extreme pain from every angle and also exhaustion. I dropped to the floor and raised my tired head to look around the room as the others settled back into their own bodies. Dean was shivering with cold and Nova kept on flexing her fingers and arms, looking a little bit grumpy. Sam was having a hard time standing up and kept on wincing. Once the spasms of pain had passed he straightened up and then frowned as he realised why his jacket was tied around his waist. He looked over at me and I smiled apologetically.
"Everything's back to normal now," I said faintly.
"Not so fast, demon," Pip ordered. "You still have stuff to do for us."
"Remember what I said," Caw said with wide eyes. I nodded and my gaze flicked between Melody and Pip as the two heads whispered amongst themselves, deciding what they were going to do.
"We'll give you instructions in time," Melody said at last.
"We'll appear in the night, watch out for us," Pip added.
"Don't wake up Sam," the heads said in unison, smirking wickedly before vanishing. I hurled a curse after them and felt some invisible force push my head backwards against the wall. I sighed deeply and knew that the cat was about to slam my head against said wall so that I was knocked out. For the first time, however, I was wrong, and an amount about the same weight as an elephant slammed down on my crotch. I screeched and that was when I was thrown against the opposite wall, immediately rendering me unconscious.
