Shaade's POV

It was a bizarre experience, dying and feeling at rest then being torn back to reality by a simple threat. Benedict was a cool guy - a little bit loud and a little bit rude - but he was nice enough, for a demon. But without my demon in me I had no powers that I knew of and that made me sad. Oh well. I could always just sass people, that would work.

"So, what are we gonna do?" Benedict asked. His voice held a constant cheerful note and his black eyes twinkled merrily. "What trouble can we cause?"

"Well Cas is here now," I pointed out. "We can mess with his head a bit. Have you ever seen Supernatural."

"I've been in your head, mate, I've watched it all through your eyes," Benedict responded. "Plus, don't you 'ave a job to get to?"

"I just died, give me a break," I said, rolling my eyes.

"But now you're alive so buck up," Benedict said, patting me on the shoulder then pulling me to my feet. "Now. Let's see." He snapped his fingers and nothing happened. "Nope. Righty-ho. Shaadey, I'm gonna 'ave to get you to snap yer fingers and imagine yerself in a new outfit, yeah?"

I frowned slightly but did as I was told. There was a slight shimmering around my body and then my clothes were fixed, brand new and smart. I was certain that if I looked at the labels I would see designer brands and a grin spread across my face.

"This is awesome," I breathed. "But why do I have these powers?"

"Without yer demon you're only a trickster," Benedict shrugged. "Making stuff outa nothin', messin' with people, that sorta thing."

"Only?" I echoed in delight. "This is brilliant! This gives me an excuse to eat sugar!"

"Mate, I'm pretty much an evil trickster," Benedict pointed out. "I need some too but I can't make it. Do us a favour and get summat to share, yeah? And don't eat on the job."

"I'm not going to work now," I said happily. "I have chaos to cause!"

"Have you forgotten about the Government?" Sam asked, re-entering the room and glancing from me to Benedict. "If you use too much magic they'll find you within seconds. They're already on their way. We need to move, and fast."

"Are we takin' the bodies?" Benedict asked.

"Nova will have to stay here, Dmitri too. I'm not sure if the Impala has enough seats for you all-"

"Sure it does," Benedict interrupted. "You and Dean in the front, Cas, Shaade and me in the back. Boom."

Sam sighed and looked at me. "Is he always this annoying?"

"Normally he's afraid," I replied. "And therefore makes me afraid. But now he's cocky as hell and won't shut up."

"You love 'avin' me around really," Benedict grinned.

"No, I really don't," I sighed. "Cas will smite you, someone has to look after you while I'm working at school and - argh!" I threw my hands up in the air in desperation. "It's like having a kid. A mad, bloodthirsty, child that doesn't know how to talk properly."

"Oi!" Benedict yelled. "I can talk! I just don' wanna sound like a posh toff, alrigh'?"

Cas appeared in the doorway and Benedict's eyes flashed back. "Hey, angel," he called, making Cas turn around and frown. "Either go find yer boyfriend or find Gabriel, yeah?"

"Who's Gabriel?" Dean asked, appearing next to Cas.

"Dammit, I was hoping you'd get Gabe, not yer boyfriend," Benedict sulked. Dean looked as if he was going to throw a chair and so Cas put a hand on his shoulder, calming him a little.

"Wait!" Benedict said suddenly. He spun around then jumped onto the bed, one finger raised in the air.

"I 'ave an announcement," he said, slowly and carefully. He glanced at me and winked and I knew instantly what he was going to do and so ducked out of the firing line, pulling Sam with me.

"If you think tha' Dean is bi clap yer-"

A gunshot tore through the air and a bullet embedded itself in Benedict's chest. The demon looked at the wound that was just above his heart and pouted.

"Aw, I were havin' fun," he said sadly. Then the hole closed and his outfit shifted, fixing itself and looking more modern. An exact replica of my suit, to be exact.

"Oh no," I whispered. Benedict looked at me and raised his hand, pointing at my head.

"Oh yes," he said with a grin, eyes flashing black as magic ripped through me. He was trying to get rid of me to take my place. Typical demon. But I wasn't having any of it, fighting back using my mind and the link to him to send magic straight to Benedict's heart. I heard him gag and choke but didn't stop until the pain had finished in my head.

"Don't mess with me, kid," I said warningly. "I may be nothing much without magic now but you're only a newbie and I've been around much longer than you. You've seen things but you don't have any first hand experience. Don't do what I would get away with because I'm much stronger than you." I moved forwards, pulling him down off the bed using only my mind.

"So you see, Benny," I hissed, "I'm telling you not to play with the big boys because you're not scary enough yet, yeah?"

"You haven't seen nothing," Benedict growled. "You don't have any power or control over me."

"Oh, but I have friends in high places, and knowledge," I retorted. "I still have that soulmate link. I have a charm you'll never possess. A god is my best friend. I have two weddings to get to, a stable job and people who won't kill me any time soon. And what do you have?" I pretended to think for a minute. "Oh yes, absolutely nothing. You have people willing to kill you in a second. You're surrounded by brand-new enemies. So keep your head down, be quiet and be helpful, smart-arse."

"You're the smart-arse, smart-arse," Benedict said weakly.

I applauded, slow and sarcastic. "Ten out of ten for the comeback," I drawled. "But please, leave the sass to a master. Don't even try to be me cuz face it, Benedict, you're simply not mad enough." I smiled pityingly and then vanished.
