So Many Tricksters

I did fall asleep, at some point, and when I woke up again I was in an empty room in an empty bed. There was a dark stain on the floor I presumed came from Benedict - demon blood was incredibly hard to remove.

"Hello?" I murmured sleepily, sitting up and yawning. There was no response and I shrugged, momentarily wondering where everyone had gone and then deciding that I didn't care. I jumped out of bed, wandered out of the room and came face to face with an angry vampire.

Fangs protruded over its normal teeth and it hissed, going for my neck. I simply sighed and ripped its heart out, tossing it over my shoulder then punching it through the neck, beheading it. The vampire fell to the floor, lifeless, and I stepped over it.

The sudden surge of emotions I had felt had been replaced by a cool nothing. I didn't feel. I wasn't even a happy-go-lucky, let's-cause-mischief guy any more. I was just fed up, bored, and uncaring.

And I liked it.

I wandered aimlessly before finding a kitchen. I think Sam and Dean had upgraded the rooms for an entire suite, a small apartment. I snapped my fingers and nothing happened. Frowning, I tried again before realising that my stint on earth had probably stopped my powers. That would also explain the lack of emotion.

I sighed and sat on the worksurface, rummaging absentmindedly in the cupboards. I found a large bag of Doritos and opened them, inhaling the dust that exploded outwards when I opened the bag. Then began the methodical movement of reaching into the bag, licking the Dorito all over and then eating it. That went on for a while until I became aware of footsteps.

"If that vampire brought friends then I'm screwed," I muttered, sliding off the worksurface lightly and thinking of the body I'd left in the hall. Pacing forwards silently I pushed at the door, Dorito dust leaving fingerprints everywhere.

"You shouldn't leave corpses where people can see them," someone said, appearing in front of me. I screeched and fell over in fright.

"Jesus Christ!" I yelled, putting a hand over my heart.

"Archangel Gabriel, actually," the newcomer said with a smirk. "But don't tell those Winchesters that. They just think I'm a trickster. The Trickster, also known as Loki. Also known as Gabriel."

"I've watched Supernatural enough times, you don't have to tell me," I said, rolling my eyes and standing up. Gabriel was a relatively small man but I knew he had impressively large, golden wings. He was only in a few episodes - five in total - but he was such a character that everyone remembered the cheeky trickster.

"Why are you here?" I asked.

"I heard there was a new trickster in town," Gabriel shrugged. "Plus you beat up my man Loki down on earth. Not cool, dude."

Gabriel had brown hair that was long - but not as long as Sam's - reaching down just behind his ears. Instead of wearing some kind of costume or disguise he wore a jacket over a dark shirt, loose jeans and boots making up the stereotypical Supernatural look.

"You know Loki?" I said, eyebrows raised.

"I pretty much am Loki," Gabriel laughed. "But he's the earth, Norse one and I'm here, the loud, American-sounding angel."

"Why do you keep that vessel?" I questioned. "Because, excuse me if I'm wrong, but didn't you die?"

"Oh, details," Gabriel said, waving his hand. "I like this vessel. Sentiment, and a good face." He smirked and I felt a smile creeping onto my face. From what I'd seen of Gabriel he was as crazy as I was and something in me was determined to stay on his good side. Plus there was that little voice at the back of my head... Tell you what, I'll show you.
