Thanks for reading... Enjoy :)

I sat leaning on the maple tree outside school, crying torrents of tears down my face as the slight breeze ruffled my hair, pushing it into my eyes. My head laid in my hands as I cried, the thoughts swirling in my head in painful spirals. I don't know why this bothered me so much. He was rude, arrogant and brutally picked on me on a daily basis. He was ignorant and short-sighted and... beautiful. This sent a fresh flood of tears down my face. Because even with all of the horrible things he has done, even with the terrible way he has treated me I still love him. And a small part of me, however daft it may have been, believed he actually might have loved me back.
And those words he said so forcefully shattered this belief. What used to be the fragile heart in my chest became shards, broken by everything he said. And everything he is. The despair of my hurt hit me as I kept crying for what seemed like hours. All of a sudden a weak voice interrupted my break down.
"Umm e-excuse me, are you alright?" I raised my head cautiously, wary of the interruption. A small boy stood there, his white blond curls hanging messily in his brown eyes, their wide, innocent appearance reminding me of a puppy. He had a slouched, unsure posture and his hands were stuffed in his pockets. He was adorable. He shuffled on his feet with nerves making me grin a tiny bit, his cuteness humorous. However my emotions still kept me silent and I shrugged silently the tears still wet on my face. He walked closer pointing to the space beside me and avoiding my glance.
"Do you mind if I sit down?" I nodded slightly after deciding him to be harmless. He flopped down beside me, landing on his hand. He scrunched his nose in pain, I couldn't help it. I let out a chuckle making him narrow his eyes at me in annoyance. I choked back my laughter, instead sticking out my palm.
"Hi I'm Charlie, and you are?" He looked unsurely at my hand before shaking it gently, his tiny hand being swallowed even by mine.
"Billy, Billy Tritan." He started to look nervous. "Uh do you mind if I ask why you were crying?" I narrowed my eyes at first before I exhaled heavily, the defiance seeping out with my breath. I then realized I wanted to tell someone, someone that was totally uninvolved. And that someone was Billy. So for the rest of what would have been my lunch block I told a random stranger my troubles, every detail from the beginning.
-----
After lunch I was showing Billy to his math class, as he was self admittedly lost in our large school. In our long conversation I had learned about him too, giving us a fast friendship. He was a freshman here for his first day. He had moved from Texas so the slight twang added to his appearance making him even more adorable. After hearing my story he had also confided in me, making me even more fond of the small boy. He was gay, but (in his own words) was so far in the closet he couldn't see the light. He reminded me of me and through our similarities of quiet awkwardness we had quickly bonded. And this is what made me want to block him when a piercing squeal flew towards him at full speed.
She whacked into me making me grunt in pain.
"You! Where did you go? You left me at the table as you ran off?! I was worried and-" she stopped in the middle of her sentence, noticing the scared looking boy standing beside me. His eyes were wide as she threw herself towards him, pinching his cheeks between her fingers.
"Aren't you cute!" She winked in his direction, putting on her flirty face. I face palmed myself, groaning at my friends boy crazy tendencies. Billy just blushed and lowered his head, embarassed. I just laughed at how adorable he was.
"I'm uhh of gay." He mumbled looking intently at his shoes. My eyes widened as he said this, worried about his well-being.
"Eek!" She squealed tackling him in a hug while jumping up and down. "You are sooo adorable!" I stood, torn between amusement and pity as Billy was encased in Janelles grasp, terror apparent on his face. Finally I decided on help when I peeled Janelle off him.
"Janelle leave the boy be, he's already skittish enough." Billy looked at me with a pouting face, his arms crossed. "She's an ultra fan girl. I know I should of warned you, sorry. But Billy this is my best friend Janelle." Janelle stuck out her hand for him to shake but Billy just looked at it in fear, worried about another attack. With an amused grin Janelle took his hand gently and shook, making him smile back in relief. After their introductions Janelle turned to me, back in focus on other things.
"So Charlie, since I assume that you will want to be the designated kill joy again what time do you want to drive to the party tonight?" My good mood vanished as I was reminded of my promise to go. I scowled and muttered my answer, obviously not looking forward to it.
"I guess 8:30..." She smiled brightly and nodded only then remembering our new friend who was currently obviously trying to avoid being seen.
"Oh Billy..." She called in a sugary voice that made me cringe for the poor boy. "Ready for your first school house party?" He looked at me for help but I grimly shook my head knowing there was no chance in resisting Janelles pleading. I now had two people to protect, and one more friend.
